Chapter 3- Gossip to Spread

No, it's not Nick. He texted me saying he had study hall, same as me, after lunch and that he was leaving early. At least with him I would have been able to say it was a joke. Instead I saw Gabi Rodriguez, the school's biggest gossip.
"Who said that?" She chirped.
"It was just a joke," Monica quips.
"I like jokes!" Gabi exclaimed, as if it was going to get her closer to the answer.
"It's a long story," I explain
"Fill me in quick we have five minutes," she says reaching for a Little Debbie whoopie pie. Before I can start explaining, an audible gasp escapes Audrey's lips. We all follow her gaze to see Danny Zuko with his arm around Tashia Damond. They were both laughing at something he said. "I'm so sorry," I told Audrey. I truly felt bad for her. That jerk.
"What's the big deal?" Gabi asked, "He's with a new girl every week." Danny noticed our glances and put his hand down guiltily. Tasha turned toward him, not noticing us, and started making out with him. Way to much PDA. I quickly turned around, looking at Audrey's face. She was on the brink of tears. She looked so close to bawling I was wondering how she was holding it in. Gabi looked at Audrey, them turned around and snapped a picture of Danny and Tashia. Danny now had his hand under her shirt. "Get a room," I thought, just as Audrey mumbled it under her breath. Audrey's eyes were burning in hatred. Sh!ts about to go down.
"Post it on your website," she said proudly, having finally found her revenge.
"Wh-What?" I ask dumbfounded. "Why?"
"Because I want his humiliation to be public." She said it so simply and she had the air of someone talking to a child.
"No" I said, trying to mimic her tone.
"How would you feel if Nick put his arm around Monica?" Audrey snapped. That was uncalled for.
"Nick Baltin?" Gabi was furiously typing on her phone. I caught a glimpse of her post. HORRIBLE BOYFRIEND DANNY ZUKO GETS CAUGHT CHEATING ON INNOCENT GIRLFRIEND WITH TASHIA DAMOND. At least she didn't put up Audrey's name.
"Ya," Audrey responded "He's Andy's cru-". I kicked her in the shins to stop her from continuing. The bell rang two seconds later, forcing the "couple" to break up and get their tongues out of each other's throats. That's just disgusting. "What was that about?" I snapped at Audrey, referring to her slip up about Nick.
"I'm s-sorry, I-I just,... my mouth is just.. faster than m-my brain" she chokes out. I understand the feeling, especially after seeing someone cheat on you. Not now. The voice are snapping again.
Idiot, she's totally lying though her teeth. My brains right, she stutters when she's lying.
"Audrey, tell me the truth".
" Fine, " she sighs "I feel like you're on Monica's side more often than mine." Because I am.
"I'm sorry, is there anything I can do to make it up to you?" As much as I feel closer to Monica than Audrey, I would never admit it.
"Come to my house today after school." She chirps. She's back to her cheery tone as if she was expecting my question. She steps around me, a huge smile on her face. That's weird. I guess the voices are kinda suspicious. At least she's happy. I start looking for Monica. I quickly spot her at the end of the hallway. She's on her phone. I wave at her, cause the second bell is gonna ring any minute. She looks up from the ground, acknowledged me, and spun on her heel, walking in the opposite direction, without looking back. What is up with everyone.
