CH 13 AInt no party like a Rawlins party

It was a crazy busy day today. It was Thanksgiving day and it was my first thanksgiving in Washington since my senior year of high school. It was crazy busy today. I would drop Alec off at the C.Link then I would go down and have brunch with my family, I leave go back to the C.Link, and then after the game Alec and I are going to have Thanksgiving dinner with his family. There was going to be a lot of running around today.

I got up earlier than normal in the morning and began running around getting ready. Alec soon joined me in the bathroom. He went straight to brushing his teeth and went back to his room to finish getting ready. Ever since the party, Alec and I have been doing better, I had been sharing a bed with him because Ryan still hadn't gotten me my new sheets for my bed. Alec said I was going to get them after the game today.

I began curling my hair, Alec came back into the bathroom and was finishing getting ready. It was game day and he does not talk very much on game day he gets very serious and in his zone.

"What do you want for breakfast?" I sprayed my hair and looked at him in the mirror.

"you don't have to make me anything." He just kept looking at him in the mirror. He didn't break eye contact with his reflection. I could see him beginning to tense up. I wrapped my arms around his waist and looked up at him.

"I want to. Its thanksgiving and I want to show you how thankful I am for you." I felt him loosen up and saw a smile come across his face and he looked down at me. "I knew that would get you to loosen up. Relax!! You are going to do great"

I left Alec in the bathroom while I went to the kitchen and began making a good carb loaded breakfast for Alec. He came into the kitchen in all his Seahawks and sat down. He grasped his hands and his legs were shaking like crazy. I put the plate down in front of him. I grabbed his hands and looked at him. "Why are you so nervous? I have never seen you this bad before"

He didn't look up he just continued to look down "I'm starting today" 

"THATS GREAT!!! why didn't you tell me sooner"

"I didn't really realize what was going on till this morning. I am just scared to mess something up"

"stop thinking like that, you are going to kick ass! I am going to be right there with you the whole time. now eat up. We got to get going soon"

We went down to the car and we began the trek across the lake and too the stadium. It was game day so Alec got control of the radio. 

"when or where do I get my tickets?" 

"oh you will have to come in and get them" we found a parking spot and I walked into the front office we go to the front desk. The guy working at the front desk was a man in his 60s about he looked like a genuinely nice man, he had gray hair but he looked like he had lived a good life. "Hey Sam! How's it going man?!" the hugged each other.

Sam turned and looked at me. He gave me an up and down look like I looked out of place. I was out of place. When I came back for the game I would fit in alot more, but as of right now I didn't. My blonde hair was in tight messy curls, I had a nice coat of make up on. I had a pair of nice dark skinny jeans and a nice red see through button up shirt with a tank top under neith and a pair of black pumps. 

the moment was getting a little awkward and Alec felt it too. He broke the silence and casualy explained "This is my roommate and best friend Rawlins, we were gonna pick up her tickets for the game tonight, maybe giver her a tour. She's gotta go have brunch with her family then she is gonna come back for the game"

"well you can go give her the tour and I will get you the tickets when you come back out" He gave me a nice genuine smile and Alec began showing me around. It was nice to look around and see what was going on and meeting all the people. it was awesome, I couldn't wait till I got the chance to work there. Alec walked me back out, Sam handed me my tickets

"It was really nice to meet you Sam, hopefully I will see you again soon" I turned and gave Alec a big hug. I whispered in his ear "You are going to do great, just relax. this is what you have always dreamed of." we seperated and I made my way back top the car. 

The whole drive down to Renton I was just fearing seeing my family. My family had kind of off and on issues for a long time. My mom always stayed with my dad for reasons that were unknown to me. Well when I was going off to college my dad and I did not leave on a good note, I came home at Christmas. My parents were getting divorsed, My mom eventually remarried, my dad claimed he wanted to mend our relationship but he has made no attempt to contact me and safe it. I was perfectly fine with not having my dad around. He wouldn't be here at brunch which I was perfectly fine with.

I entered my mother's house to see my middle brother, Brice, he was two years older than me. We weren't super close, he looked alot like my mother, while my oldest brother Dallas who I don't talk to any more looks more like my dad. I was the odd one out. 

Brice was tall and muscular, he had light brown hair with hazel eyes. Dallas had dark brown almost black hair, and mud brown eyes. I was the token blonde with gray eyes. 

"your late little sis." Brice came over and gave me a hug, "everyone is already at the table"

"sorry Alec showed me around the behind the sence stuff at the C.Link" I followed Brice into the dining room to see the family already sitting around the table. My grandmother, 2 aunts, 3 uncles, both of my cousins Kalee and Becca, Kalee was with her husband Max, my mother Sandra her husband Dave, and Brice's girlfriend Piper. I took my spot inbetween Becca and Piper.

"Hey Rawlins, how does it feel to be back on the west coast. " I gave Becca a hug. by far she was my favorite cousin. We were 5 years apart but we were still really close, I could go to her for anything.

"Its been great! I've missed it."

"Still going for that Seahawks has a job?" She passed me the mash patatoes as she looked at me witha look of hope in her eye

"I'm trying, not very much closer. I left Starbucks and now I am working at the zoo"

"just keep working Kiddo just don't give up"

The rest of Brunch went buy with ease, we sat and laughed and joked. It was so cute. We were sitting in the living room joking around when Max stood up. "So guys I wanted too-" Max was soon cut off by a knock at the door.

"I wasn't expecting anyone." My mom looked around confused, just like everyone else in the room "Rawlins can you get that?" 

I got up from my seat and walked over too the door. I opened the door and the sight before me was a complete shock "Dallas?!"

"Hey Rawlins. Thought you were in New York still?' He had a look on his face like nothing was wrong.

"I was in Pittsburgh for 5 years. You would know if you came to my graduation, like the rest of the family. What the hell are you doing here any way" I don't think I could have more anger built up in side of me.

"I just thought I would visit my family I am so thankful for" he tried to get around me but I step in front of him. Not letting him past me. "Come on little sis let me by"

"No. You are not welcome here" 

"says who?" I could see anger flash across face, for a moment I was scared, but I didn't let it show on my face. Thank god Brice came to my rescue.

"Hey Rawlins what's-" he immediately stopped when he saw Dallas "Get the fuck out of here, no one wants you here"

there was so much tension in the room it was killing me. Dallas pushed his way by us and walked over to the living room. Brice and I just sat there staring at each other. This was not the brunch I was planning of. We walked back into the living room and everything was silent. Everyone was just staring at Dallas, I looked at the clock. Saved by the bell it was time to leave for the game. 

"umm so guys I have to go to the game. I will see you guys later"
