Jealousy is Love's Best Friend (Book 1)

Chapter 8

"Morning beautiful," says James as he spots Lily walking down the stairs. She pecks him on the lips and the two wait for Remus, who is looking rather worn and scratched up, Sirius and Peter before walking down to breakfast hand in hand.

"What have we got today, Moony?" asks Peter through a mouthful of bacon. 

"Transfiguration with the Ravenclaws, double period charms, herbology with the Hufflepuffs and potions with the Slytherins," recites Remus. James shudders at the mention of Slytherins, then leans down and whispers in Lily's ear; 

"If Snivelly gives you any shit today, his ass will not be left unstuck."

Lily snorts and nearly spits apple juice everywhere.

Sirius wasn't aware that it was humanly possible to be this cute. He sits in transfiguration, watching Remus as he repeatedly transfigures his table into a pig and back again, and sighs. The sunlight is streaming through the window and basking Remus in its golden rays, highlighting every feature of his body. His long, calloused hands that Sirius has spent so many hours holding and the soft pink lips he has spent so long kissing. He thinks back to earlier day when the couple encountered Regulus in the hallway. The horrified expression on the little, parent loving, straight boy's face had made Sirius laugh so hard he nearly wet himself.

"Mr Black," says McGonagall's cold voice, interrupting his daydream. "Eyes off Mr Lupin right now or 5 points will be taken from Gryffindor."

Whoops.

"So Lily, tell me about Potter."

Lily, Marlene, Mary, Alice and Emmeline are sat round a table in the library. They are supposed to be studying but all attempts at doing any work have been replaced by gossip and couple's interrogation.

"He's perfect," says Lily, closing her book. "He's romantic, he's gorgeous, he's protective, but not in a way that he thinks I can't look after myself. And a great snog." The girls all giggle, but it's a fake laugh on Emmeline's part. Lily wouldn't usually share that kind of information with anyone but today she just wants to completely enjoy being the girl with the perfect boyfriend.

"Is he a good shag?" asks Marlene in a serious tone. 

"Marlene!" squeals Lily, and they all laugh loudly, earning a loud shush from Madame Pince. Emmeline thinks she is going to be sick.

Remus puts his arm around Sirius and pulls him closer in. They are waiting for James to finish training, and while Remus is slightly regretting putting himself out in the cold, Sirius is glad he has an excuse for more cuddles. Remus kisses Sirius's forehead gently and Sirius then raises his head and kisses Remus on the lips. They hug each other tighter, shielding each other from the cold.

Sirius briefly remembers the time he had a girlfriend. Her name was Mary and she was Lily's friend. He had always wondered why he hadn't felt anything strong in that relationship. Looking up at his very male boyfriend, now he knows why.
