James, still slightly giddy from the confundus charm, reaches over Lily and grabs his hot chocolate. She giggles, also still under the effects of the spell and watches James as he sips his drink. Emmeline uses this opportunity to slip unnoticed up the stairs. Suddenly James's eyes gloss over and he sits bolt upright, knocking Lily to the floor. This actions seems to clear her head of the charm and, grumbling, she gets up and stares at her boyfriend. "What is wrong with you Potter?" He looks down at her as if he only jut realised she was there.
"What are you doing?" He asks, voice distant and quiet. Lily is growing more annoyed.

"Well, were happily sitting on the sofa until you decided to knock me to the ground!"

"I have to go..." says James and pushes her out the way, heading to the boys dormitory.
"Potter! What is your problem?" Lily yells after him, face turning the same colour as her hair. Lily brushes her hair out of her face and charges up the stairs after her boyfriend.

"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemmeliiiiiiiiiiiiiiine," whines James. "I love youuuuuuuuuu." Emmeline smirks.
"I know you do, James." She hears Lily's approaching footsteps and quickly lies down on James's bed, grabbing his arms and pulling the down on either side of her. "Quickly, kiss me!" She hisses, and James crashes his lips into hers. Lily bursts the door open, ready to yell at James, but is stopped by the scene in front of her eyes. Her mouth slowly drops and tears threaten to spill down her cheeks.

Perfect timing.

Emmeline throws James off of her, painting her on her face a mask of disgust and horror. "POTTER! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR'E DOING?" She yells, secretly impressed by her acting skills. Lily takes a step towards her.

"Emmeline," she says, voice shaky and angry. "What. The hell. Is going on." Emmeline turns to James, faking a look of disgust and exasperation.

"I was minding my own business, heading up to my dorm, when he grabbed me and kissed me!"

"You told me too..." James interjects, eyes still hazy. Tears are now flowing freely from Lily's eyes.

"What do you mean she told you too? Emmeline? What have you done to him?" Emmeline steps back in mock horror.

"What have I done to him? Well by the look of things, someone's cast some sort of spell on him!"

Lily stares at James, too stunned too say anything. It's clear that James is not in his right mind, yet the image of him leaning over Emmeline in that way is still burning so vividly in her head that she can't think straight. She grabs James by the arm and drags him down the stairs, ignoring the stares of their fellow Gryffindors. She remembers Sirius telling her something about a detention so she heads over to Professor Merrythought's office, dragging James along.

She can see him through the small window in the door. Usually he would be leaning back on his chair trying to charm his way out of the detention, lazily waving his wand despite being told to put it away. Now he just has his head down and is completing his detention without his usual arrogance. He's been like this ever since...

Lily pushes those thoughts aside and waves frantically at Sirius trying to get his attention. He glances upwards at the Professor, who is deeply involved in her work, and before glaring up at Lily. What? He mouths. Lily grabs James away from the wall that he is softly stroking and whispering to, and pulls him into Sirius's line of vision. What's wrong with him? She mouths back. This triggers the most awkward game of charades ever played, occasionally interrupted by the Professor looking up to check how Sirius is getting through the lines.

"What is going on Lils?" He says when he finally emerges from the room. He looks concernedly at James who is staring gormlessly into space. "Wait, have you been crying? What's he done to you? Because you know I'll beat the shit out of him if he's done something to you." Lily smiles inwardly at Sirius's automatically protective nature, but turns her attention back to the problem at hand.

"He's been charmed. He-," she starts tearing up, struggling to get the words out as she brings the picture back into her mind. "He was kissing Emmeline."
