"Exon! Hurry it up in there or we're gonna be late!" I groaned, wishing we could be late and miss our flight. I stared around my room a few more seconds, not wanting to leave it. I inhaled deeply before pushing myself off of my bed and slowly going to my door. I stopped and picked up my art journal, then closed my door.

My boots made a 'thud' sound with each step I took down the stairs. Once at the bottom, I gripped onto the railing and slowly swung around it and headed to the front door. My father, Hunter, stood by the door, his arms crossed over his chest and his left foot tapping impatiently on the wood floor.

Now, my father was 39 years old, almost 40. He and my mother had been together for a few years in high school and college before they had me. They got married when they found out I was going to be around soon, and three years after my sister came along. He had dark red hair, a little grey showing on the sides in his old age. He stood about 5'11, and he had bright cobalt eyes, the same shade as my sisters.

I rolled my eyes at him as I passed him, heading to his new silver car. I personally would have rather of gone in my car since it was less flashy and more comfortable, but my father wouldn't listen and said he wanted us to take his car.

My younger sister, Paige, was already in the back seat growing more excited by the second. I rolled my eyes at her as well before opening my side door and climbing in. After closing the door my father hopped in the driver's seat and started the car.

"I can't wait to see all the dinosaurs! I want to see all of them, but I wanna see the-" I tuned my sister out by putting my headphones in and turning my music up. Don't get me wrong, I found them interesting, but I really didn't want to go to Jurassic World. I was perfectly fine with reading about them and seeing illustrations or pictures of dinosaurs, not being up close and personal with one.

I grabbed my string bag I had on my back and pulled it in front of me, then opened it to stuff my journal in it and pull out a book, Looking For Alaska. For the entire car ride to the airport, which was about two hours away from home, I read my book and listened to music. Once at the airport, my father made sure everything was set and boarded onto the plane before saying goodbye.

"You two watch yourselves, okay? Exon, make sure Paige always has her inhaler on her at all times, and keep each other safe." my father said, pulling us into a tight hug. I awkwardly just stood there, waiting for him to let us go. When he did, I felt like I could breathe again and I felt relaxed again.

"Love you dad!" Paige exclaimed as we heard that our flight would be leaving soon. I copied my sister and quickly said bye to my father before dragging my sister to the plane. Our seats were almost next to each other, but we were still basically next to each other.

Paige and I found our seats on the plane, hers being right in front of mine. She had to sit next to another young boy, probably her age, with dirty blonde curls. I, on the other hand, had to sit next to a brunette boy around my age.

He had his headphones in, and he had gotten the window seat so he was staring out the window. I plopped down in my seat, making myself comfortable. I hated flying and I couldn't stand being on planes. I noticed the boy look over at me, but said nothing and looked back out the window.

I took out my earbuds and tapped his arm lightly. I might as well try and talk to him, seeing as how we're gonna be stuck by each other for a while. He looked over at me again, this time sliding his headphones off so they dangled around his neck.

"Hihi."

"Hey.."

"What's your name?"

"Zach."

"Well, Zach, I'm Exon. Looks like you are my plane buddy for the next five hours." I said, trying to sound nice but annoyance was still there slightly. He merely gave me a look that said 'I guessed that' or 'Obviously' before speaking again.

"It appears so." Really? How am I supposed to keep a conversation going at this rate?

"Just wanted to say hi and stuff. I hate planes so I wanted to make sure I could talk to someone who wasn't a creep." I explained, that being half the reason I hated plane rides. I saw his lips curl up in the slightest of smirks at my explanation, obviously finding it amusing.

"How do you know I'm not a creep?" He asked, and I just shrugged as an answer.

"I didn't say you weren't, now did I?" I joked, but he only smirked a bit more slightly and shook his head a little.

"I'm guessing your favorite color is pink, correct?" He asked, hinting at my hair color. I rolled my eyes but offered a small smile none the less.

"You could say that. About a week ago it had been a bright blue, but I wanted to try bright pale pink. I like it." I said, and he looked at my hair again before meeting my eyes again.

"How often has the color changed?"

"Within the last year and a half it's been red, to purple, to dark blue, to bright blue, then now pink. Oh, and at one point it was a rainbow." I explained, and his eyes widened slightly in interest and amazement.

"Expressive girl. Interesting." Was all he said, and I shrugged again. "You're going to Jurassic World, right?" He asked after a moment of silence. I mentally groaned.

"Yep. Me and my sister. I'm guessing you are as well?"

"Me and my little brother. It's our first time."

"Same here. Though, my cousin works there and tells us about it all the time. Plus I've dug around on the background of it and all that boring stuff." I said, realizing I was about to ramble so I shortened it up quickly. He nodded, and then I felt the plane start to take off. I turned my phone off, and Zach did the same. We fastened our seatbelts and I leaned back in my seat, trying to relax. Zach looked over at me again, and tilted his head slightly to the side.

"Scared?" He teased, and I gave him a comical dead panned looked, which he lightly chuckled at.

"Like I said, I hate planes." Zach reached over and patted my arm, which was resting on the armrest between us.

"Don't worry, your plane buddy is here to protect thy fair maiden." He said, and I laughed a little at him. We talked about random things for the rest of the flight until about an hour before we were to land, since I wanted to get a little sleep before running all over the place once we landed. He agreed and we both took naps.

Once the plane landed, I mentally thanked the Lord for being on land once again. Me and Paige grabbed our bags after getting off the plane, and made our way to the boat we were supposed to get on. Paige kept rambling on and on about the boy she sat next to during the flight, but I wasn't really listening.

"Gray!" I suddenly heard Paige exclaim and she rushed forward, almost tackling the boy she sat next to on the plane to the ground in a hug. I rolled my eyes at her and quickly caught up to her.

"Paige leave the poor soul be." I told her, but she ignored me.

"Gray this is my big sister Exon I was telling you about. Exon, this is Gray Mitchell. I sat with him on the plane and he and I both love dinosaurs! Isn't that cool?" She exclaimed. And I just agreed with her and said hello to Gray.

"Gray I told you to slow dow-" Zach cut himself off when he saw me and my sister with Gray, who was probably his younger brother. "Hey Exon. This is your sister? Gray wouldn't shut up about her once we got off the plane." He said, and his brothers cheeks flushed in embarrassment, as did my sister's.

"Hey. This is Paige. She's my little apprentice." I said, rustling her dark red locks. Zach smirked slightly at her reaction, and I giggled slightly when she made a face at me and fixed her hair.

"So, since we all know each other now and stuff, how about we all stick together on the boat ride to the island?" Gray suggested, and everyone agreed.
