"I'm off, Kid," my father called to me from the front door. Instantly, I jumped up and hugged him tightly, not wanting to let go.
"Okay. Bye," I said shortly. Dad sighed and hugged me back.
"Kid, we've been through this already."
"I know." I still didn't let go.
"I'll only be gone for a week."
"I know."
"That's seven days and I'll be back as soon as possible."
"I know."
"So stay strong and kill some people while you wait for me."
" I know."
"Alright then." I started to let go before grabbing his hand.
"Promise you will come back as soon as you can?" I pleaded. Dad looked at me straight in the eye.
"As long as nothing overlaps, then yes. As soon as I can." He finally left.
I sulkily went back to the kitchen table with a hot breakfast waiting for me and felt a wave of loneliness hit me again. Dad was busy and I was alone. Again.
Sure, I had gotten back together with my father, but there still was that part of me that was worried my dad wouldn't come back. That one day, my dad won't come home ever again. I was still scared of that, but my dad understood. Even now, I'm still healing deep wounds that had been opened ever since Dad left.
I sighed and finished eating my breakfast before gathering my things for the academy. I locked the front door and left for school.
Oh yeah, remember those people who wouldn't stop staring at me? The people who wore the Jounin and Chunin vests, forehead protectors, and a red and white fan symbol?
I just found out the they are from a noble clan, the Uchiha clan. They are strong ninjas who possess special eyes called the Sharingan, which awaken when their emotions are out of control (I think that me how it was explained). Their red designs on their eyes represent different types of genjutsus, which is some kind of illusionary technique.
They have jet black hair, black eyes, pale skin, wear the Uchiha fan symbol somewhere on their clothing,.....and (enjoy) staring at me.
So yeah, as I walk to the academy, I get a ton of stares from the Uchihas, but they aren't glares, just stares.
Believe me, it's really creepy. I'm freaking out already.
What's even worse, none of the normal villagers ever see me, so only the Uchiha are the ones staring. Plus, I'm literally invisible to other people..... (Remember, Jolin is like Kuroko. Little or no presence.) One of my theories to why they stare is because as someone who isn't acknowledged on a regular basis can be seen as a threat. My ability to stay hidden is a dangerous threat to those unaware of me.
I shuddered and walked faster, my bento box in my hand and my drawstring bag on my back.
Even though I get stares every single day I've been here, no one approaches me. It's kind of like they are just observing me. Should I be grateful that they aren't harming me, or should I be running that they might be potentially planning my death?
Right. Let's just get to school.
So I did.
I decided to avoid being the staring target of Uchihas at the moment and ran all the way to the academy. Just for the heck of it.
Then I went to my classroom and slid into an empty desk by myself. Again, I'm "invisible" or my presence is really low, so nobody noticed me. My classes and teacher Asuma Sensei, Kurenai Sensei, and Iruka Sensei are okay and fine, but I really prefer Koro Sensei's classes and teaching.
I mean, my teachers aren't bad, but they aren't good either. I don't mean to offend then, but they are kind of boring. Koro Sensei went out of his way to make all of his classes funny and interesting. He learned all our weaknesses and gave each of us a challenge to overcome our difficulties. He made individual tests and helped us improve our scores and knowledge. He captured our attention and never stopped encouraging us to follow our own paths.
(I believe everybody needs a Koro Sensei. He's such a happy teacher who can makes us all smile and enjoy even our least favorite classes.)
"Okay you kids," Asuma Sensei said, entering the classroom just as the bell rang. "Time for class. Get out your books and whatnot and take notes. You have a quiz tomorrow." Groans filled the room with disappointment. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Hop to it."
One of the worst things Asuma does is smoke. Not only is it bad for his health, it's bad to smoke inside a room with a closed window and door with an entire class breathing second-hand smoke! If Koro Sensei was here, he would say, "No smoking in front of children! It's not safe and it's hazardous for their health!"
"Turn to page 38 in your books," Asuma Sensei said, turning to the board while blowing out a whiff of smoke. I covered my nose and mouth with my sleeve and turned my book open.
"Now let's review," Asuma Sensei began and smoked while he taught, the smell of heavy smoke filling the room.
After a gruel 40 minutes of lying on my desk (well forgotten by the teacher) with my nose and mouth covered, the bell rang, signaling class was over. Asuma left with another reminder of the quiz, earning another depressed groan.
"Alright, that's enough," Iruka Sensei scolded, coming in to the classroom. "Everyone, go outside for PE."
Cheers sounded in the classroom, and feet running with eagerness and joy echoed in the halls. I followed everyone else outside and watched everyone gathered to the side of the open training grounds for us academy students.
"Everyone, ten laps go!" Everyone unwillingly began jogging around the training grounds. I guess they wanted to do the cool things, like throwing shurikens or sparring.
Koro Sensei was forced to become only Class E's homeroom teacher after nobody could do his crazy exercises for PE. After that, Mr. Karasuma stepped in and taught us how to fight, use a knife, and shoot a gun. He also hosted mini sport events to keep our motivation up.
Right now, Iruka wasn't encouraging the kids. Some were dropping their speed, and I think one kid dropped out. Others were smart enough to keep a steady pace, but none of them had the motivation to really run. As for me, this pace was pretty easy. Remember, I was the top of the class for sports on the girl's side in Class E.
Anyways, this is a group jog.
A boring group jog.
That's what I saw.
And what did I do with Class E? Sometimes, we planned attacks and chased Koro Sensei all over the place. After three days, each of us became significantly faster than before. Everybody had their own special job in order to attempt killing Koro Sensei, so everyone did their best.
"Okay, head to the trees and we'll do some shurikens throwing first," Iruka called out to us after ten laps. Well, let's see how Iruka teaches.
