Brilliant sunshine rain down through the clouds over the barren scorched land, "Truly a travesty" one of the troops said as they admired the sunlight, they marched onward towards the center of the continent where the last blow of the war had left a great scar in the land.
In the center of the scar, lay a large gleaming silver portal, but nothing else remained.
"So the rumors are true, milord" One of the soliders exclaimed
"We're uncertain.." Gabriel replied.
"How are we, such a small group intended to take care of a massive army in the situation where we have too?" The high mage, leader of the first squadron inquired.
"Worst case senario, we all die" Gabriel chuckled
Silver mist began to lightly pour out of the portal only to dissipate.
"Move back" Shadow bellowed, no sooner did they step back did thousands of souls pour from the portal, spirits of the lost and damned, they started warring on the scarred land.
"What's this..?" the high mage inquired.
"mmmm" Gabriel looked at the sky.
"Maybe the spirits that couldn't move on just fight here still.." one of the soldiers replied.
"Something isn't right here" Shadow looked at the ground, it still remained scarred but the soldiers fought as if it where raining, some of them sliding or being easily pushed against the ground, as if it where wet or muddy.
"wake up"
"Wake up"
"please.."
The voice echoed, Shadow and Gabriel both looked around frantically.
"hm?" They looked at eachother.
"Sir what do we do!" The high mage inquired
No sooner did his statement finish, did the sky around the island become dark, covered in smog.
"Thaddious...?" Shadow asked.
"Cover your mouths!" Gabriel bellowed.
The fog surrounded the area, a thick violent fog, the spirits started stumbling around and collapsing, and in the distance a man clad in thick heavy engraved armor stood tall in the front lines of one commanding troop as they marched onward.
"That's not Thaddious......" Shadow stated.
The fog however, was seriously toxic on of their own troops collapsed, they all began a full speed run back to their encampment. No sooner did they exit the fog where they followed by two enormous creatures, four legged beasts with purple crystal spines extending from their backs. They rushed the troupe but where smashed with magic from the initial squad of mages, after the dust faded the spines glowed a bright vibrant purple. "GET DOWN" Gabriel shouted, he extended his shield, his soul expanded to surround his troupe, the spines exploded outwards in a flurry of spikes and shards shooting magic all about.
"Behemoths?.." Shadow looked around
"No.. these are some new strain, something more.. rare, almost legendary" Shadow thought to himself.
He vanished into the silver mist, and appeared behind one striking it with his blade, yet his soul had done nothing.
When Shadow looked back towards the soldiers, he realized the spines that had exploded outwards passed through Gabriels shield, the only thing protecting Gabriel from certain death was the body of another soldier.
"Gabriel, we must leave, NOW" Shadow bellowed.
They both vanished into the silver mist.
Gabriel stared out to the ocean as the sun settled on the horizon, a beautiful vibrant spectrum of colors.
