(chp 11) Reactions and Untold Truths

I stared at her in complete shock. What did she just say?! ‘No, I must have heard her wrong.’ I thought to myself shaking my head trying to get the horror out of my head.

“I’m sorry….what?” I said in a tone just above a whisper.

“Harry never told you?” London said smirking, realizing that I had a thing for Harry. “We’ve been dating for almost a year now, right sweetie?” She said turning to him, running her fingers through his curls; dangling him in front of me.

Harry kept silent, staring at me intently with a frown on his face.

“Who is it Cass?” I heard Niall yell from the parlor.

“Oh the boys! Come on let’s go say hi!” London said to Harry pulling him into the parlor. I slowly followed behind them, tightly hugging myself secretly wishing I could curl up into a ball and cry.

Everyone stopped and looked at the new arrival, giving almost the exact same expression; shock.

“Bitch!” Riley stated in complete shock pointing to London, obviously recognizing her from the store.

“What is she doing here?!?!” Riley and London stated angrily, simultaneously.

“You guys know each other?” Liam asked confused looking back and forth between London and Riley.

“For a brief unpleasant moment.” Riley said standing up from her previous position on the couch.

London scowled at Riley. “Harry, babe could you help me bring up my suitcases to your room?” She said flirtatiously.

“Sure.” Harry said uneasily and started grabbing her suitcases from the front.

Riley and Belle figured out what was happening, practically in sync, and looked at me worriedly.  

I shook my head telling them that I didn’t want to talk about it. “I’m going to go for a walk.” I said in a semi trance and left the house, closing the door behind me. How could I be so stupid? Did I really think that someone like him could be single? Or that he would ever like someone like me? Silent tears slide down my cheeks as I walked aimlessly down the street, towards who knows where. Eventually I ended up at a local park, surprisingly empty except for an old couple who walked hand in hand near the pond.

I sat under a nearby tree and put my knees under my chin, silently thinking about how I was going to live under the same roof as him for the rest of the summer.

“Cassidy!” I heard someone call. I turned toward the voice. He sat down next to me slightly out of breath. “I’ve been looking for you all over the place.” Louis said pulling me into a hug as I silently cried into his shoulder.

After I was all cried out I looked over at Louis and saw a look of guilt on his face. “You knew didn’t you?” I said completely hurt. “All of you knew and you didn’t tell me!” I yelled standing up starting to walk away.

Louis grabbed my wrist and turned me to face him. “I’m so sorry, Cass. You have every right to be mad at us.”

“Why didn’t you tell me!” I said still furious.

“Well we were seeing that Harry started to like you…a lot. We figured that if we gave it some time that he would come to his senses and dump that witch for you.” He murmured, staring at the ground.

“And how did that work out for you?” I said tiredly.

“Not like I hoped.” Louis stated remorsefully as he awkwardly scratched his head.

I sighed going up to him and giving him a hug. “I’m sorry Lou, it’s not you I’m mad at.”

He hugged me back. “I should have told you sooner.” Louis then placed his hand at the small of my back and started slowly leading me back to the house.
