Chapter 15-

*Sam’s P.O.V*

I walk through the city streets among the shadows, no one can see me this way unless they squint and focus on my exact point. I smirk slightly as I spot my target. He’s staggering so much I’m sure he doesn’t even remember him own name. That’s the best thing about alcohol. You can chose a target and kill them without them knowing what’s happening.

Silently I stand there against the wall watching him stagger ever so slowly towards me. When he’s close enough I reach out and pull him to me by his arm. He doesn’t react and instead stands there locked in my grip. I tighten it until he begins to tell me to let go, I don’t. Using my free hand I pull his head up and as he sees my red eyes glowing in the darkness he stops every word he was trying to say.

“Do you need help getting home?” I ask him as smoothly as I can. With an open mouth he nods wordlessly. “What’s your address?” Numbly he tells me the address and I practically drag him home by the arm but whenever the occasional police car would drive by I release his arm and make it look like we’re having a casual talk. None of them assume a thing. Humans can be so dumb some times.

“Hi, I’m Marcus.”

The words ring in my head like a headache; I nearly drop the boys arm but instead push the pain back until I can’t feel a thing. Emotions. The word alone causes bile to rise in my throat. What’s the whole point about them? All they are is another reason to hold you back. The faster you get rid of them the faster you learn to be better.

Through my trance I manage to get the boy home. He steps into the house and stares at me with a blank look. What is with this guy? “Are you going to invite me in?” I ask and he quickly nods his head.

“Come on in, and thanks for bringing me home. There are a lot of creeps out this late.” He slurs with a nod of his head to seal everything he’s just said.

I walk in a close the door behind me, my eyes locked solemnly on him. “Yeah, you never know who you could have invited home.” I agree with a sinister tone to my voice.

His eyes go wide for a split second as the alcohol fails him. “I-I know what you are.” He stutters as he reaches for the cross around his neck. In a split second I’m by his side, ripping out his neck. His hands clutch at his neck as he falls to the ground and all I can do as he squirms on the ground is watch in satisfaction. They get easier and easier. Years ago witches used to use spells to cover their scent, now they don’t even do that. It’s too bad though, such a great witch this boy was too.

*Luke’s P.O.V*

From the moment Marcus said his name I knew something was different about him. Even though I knew something was off about him I knew he wasn’t a vampire.

He sighs and takes a seat next to me by the waterside. “I’m a witch like you, if that’s what you’re trying to figure out,” He says, not even looking at me.

“H-How do you know what I am?” It really did come as a shock. How does he instantly know I’m a witch when I didn’t even know it until yesterday? That’s just not fair.

He laughs and turns to face me, “Let’s just call it a hunch.” He says, smiling lazily.

I smile back slightly despite my sadness. The conversation dies and we sit there in comfortable silence. Marcus lifts his hands up into the air and I watch in amazement as he moves them back and forth, the water following his every move.

He turns his head and smiles at me before pulling his hands right back. For a single moment I wonder what he’s doing and then the water comes rushing towards me, before I know it I’m soaked from head to toe.

“You’re dead.” I yell as I jump to my feet. Marcus is just as fast as he takes off into the woods. I follow a couple steps behind. Through the forest I dodge the vines but they seem to move away from me anyway. I raise my hand up like Marcus did and concentrate. A few meters in front of me Marcus screams.

I stop running and smile as I see the vines coiled around him. “Didn’t think it would be that easy did you?” I joke and laugh slightly. I can’t believe I just did that, I mean I only found out I was a witch yesterday and now here I am, wrapping vines around someone.

I watch as Marcus struggles against the vines but can’t get out. Luckily I was smart enough to wrap them tightly around his wrists. “Luke Murry Merge, you release him right now!” My mum scolds causing me to jump and the vines come undone. Marcus falls to the ground with a thump.

“What are you doing here mum?” I ask, slightly curious and slightly scared.

She comes over to me quickly and squeezes my ear, “I should be asking you the same thing.” She says and begins to pull me back home. “We’re going home.” She says and all the while I can hear Marcus laughs. Mum walks up to him and begins to pull him by the ear and he hisses in pain, causing me to laugh until she tightens her grip on my ear. “You too Marcus.”

She doesn’t release our ears until we’re back inside. She slams the door shut and turns towards Marcus. “I thought you knew better than to play in those woods.” She scolds. I watch as Marcus guiltily puts him head down. “As for you Luke,” She turns her glare towards me. “You don’t run off without asking and you most certainly do not go into those woods. Do you hear me?”

I nod slightly and she releases a breath, drained from the scolding. “I just worry about you that’s all, people in this town aren’t to all be trusted so from now on Luke you’re only to trust Marcus, his mother, Jackson and myself.” She says in one breath and I nod solemnly not understanding why we moved here in the first place if it’s not even safe.

I turn my head to Marcus, he turns and smiles reassuringly. Well at least there’s one person I can trust.
