I remembered she told me her second job was Macy's so I decided to visit her.
I pulled up to Macy's just before closing time and as I got out the car the police and ambulance sped into the lot. They all jumped, out rushing into the store
I started to walk faster and through the doors I saw two people in handcuffs and a group of paramedics crouched around something. I saw blood in front of their feet and I scanned the store for her familiar face, when I couldn't find it I started to race over to the paramedics before I was abruptly stopped by two police officers
"sir, I'm sorry but this is closed off." they started to push me away
"what? man I'm trying to see who's on the floor, I want to see if its my girlfriend yo' !" I yelled in his face and pushed them both away before continuing my pursuit. My stomach dropped as they lifted a gurney and I saw her face.
"aye, that's my girlfriend, what happened " I asked, walking along side of them through the doors
"buddy, we don't have much time left, get in or follow us but we need to leave now if she's going to make it" one of them called out lifting her in the ambulance. I jumped in without hesitation and placed myself on her side, holding her hand tight
"African American female, mid 20's, has a Bullet wound in her stomach. Bullet seems to be stuck in her stomach. Looks like she has a head wound also. She's lost a lot of blood" he continues on. "sir, we are going to do everything we can" he said as they opened the doors and pushed her inside the hospital.
a few minutes later, I slowly made my way out of the ambulance and into the waiting room.
