Chapter 1: Welcome Back Home (Part 1)

- Alexandria Brooke Snow's P.O.V. -

"48...... 49...... 50! Ready or not here I come!!" yelled Max. As I struggle to crawl my way under the queen-size bed of my best friend, Brittany, and at the same time trying not to make too much noise so that I wouldn't get caught as Max looks for us.

Just as I got to the middle, I felt something crawl on my right elbow. My eyes widened in fear, and then I quickly covered my mouth with my left hand to prevent myself from screaming.

I slowly turned my head to the right.

Then relief washed all over me when I saw that it was just a few strands of my hair, and not a bug.

I hate bugs.

I have this huge fear of insects, because they really scare the crap out of me.

I looked around me to check if there were any bugs under the bed with me. And again, I felt relieved when I saw that the whole floor was spotless clean. No sign of bugs. Thank you Lord! -

"AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!"

The scream startled me that it made me jump and caused me to lift my head, then hit it on the bed slat. Hard. Really hard. I repeatedly rubbed my head to relieve the pain.

When I got back into my senses, I came to know that the scream that I just heard was from Brittany and thanks to her, I probably now have a huge lump on my head. So just in case I don't hit it again, I crawled and got out under the bed and tiptoed my way towards the door.

I quietly placed my left ear at the door and listened. After a few seconds, I heard thumping sounds, feets running away and fading towards my left that leads to the stairs, going up. And that gave me the chance to get out and go to the base (where Max counted, which means when I get there without getting caught, I'm safe and I won't be the next it).

I hurriedly tiptoed my way downstairs and checked if Max was there. Luckily he wasn't. So I ran towards the back door, and just as I was about to touch it, I saw a note that wasn't there when we first started the game.

The base is not here anymore. I changed it, it's now found at the playhouse, at the end of the garden. - Max

"Cheater." I whispered to myself.

Scared that Max could be just right behind me, I quickly opened the back door and then shut it behind me. I started running again until I got to the end of the garden, and then I ran towards the playhouse where the new base was now located and touched it.

"And safe!" I said in victory, as I jumped, with my fist up. Then I let myself fall to the ground, looking up the clear blue skies, while taking deep breaths.

After a few seconds, I finally got my breathing back to normal, and then at the same time, I heard a noise behind the playhouse. Out of curiosity, I stood up and checked what made the noise.
