Lauren woke up the next day eager to go to school. After doing her morning routine, she jogged happily towards the kitchen and saw her mom cooking some waffles and her siblings digging in to theirs. She pulled a chair to sit on and made a screeching sound, alerting her mom of her presence.

"Morning sweetie," her mom Clara said as she served Lauren a plate of fresh hot waffles. She reached over the table to grab the syrup and faced her mom, a cheeky smile on her face. "Morning too, mom."

"Wow, someone's in a good mood today. Did you make friends already?" Lauren nodded as a response while feeding herself with a waffle drenched lightly in syrup. Clara smiled to herself seeing that her daughter is slowly coming out of her shell. Five mines later, she said goodbye to her mom and siblings. She heads over to the living room in search of her dad who was already grabbing his keys from the rack.

The ride to school was silent. Lauren was texting Dinah, telling her to meet her at the school gate. She smiles when Dinah begins to sass her playfully via text, and she lets out a giggle without even knowing. Mike, on the other hand, glances at his daughter every once in a while. A proud smile made its way to his face when he begins to realize that her once introverted daughter might not be as introverted this year as he thought she would be.

As soon as the car stopped, she kissed her dad goodbye and jogged to Dinah. She was greeted with a hug and a good morning. Believe it or not, lockers were non-existent in the school. It has been brought up a lot of times before but the principal doesn't want to incorporate lockers on his school because 'students will be too dependent on lockers. It'll make them lazy' . Well, that's what Dinah told her when Lauren finally noticed the lack of lockers in the hallways.

"It kinda sucks you know.." Dinah huffed in annoyance. She would really love the luxury of a locker system.

"I don't know. I actually think he has a point," Lauren shrugged, causing Dinah to slap her in the arm.

"You didn't just side with him," Dinah said with disbelief, playfully, knowing that Lauren would someday change her mind on that and join the rally.

"Sorry, I just did," Lauren confidently fired back, knowing that Dinah wants to banter with her. It's fun having someone to mess around and have fun with. Before she could turn her attention to where she was going, she bumped into a slim figure almost causing them to fall down face first on the ground. Luckily the slim figure got a grip on one of the rails.

"Oh hi Lauren!" Camila piped up, helping the green-eyed girl maintain her balance.

"Sorry 'bout that," Lauren apologized for bumping into Camila.

"Don't worry Laur, Chancho's more of a clutz than you are," Dinah pulled the girls on either side of her and enclosing them in a side hug while leading them to the room.

The last bell rung and there's no sign of Normani. They were on their seats the last time, Lauren and Camila engaged in a deep conversation about which is the best pizza topping while Dinah is texting on her phone, occasionally looking at the door hoping for Normani to burst through.

The system of the school seemed weird to Lauren. The teachers are the ones who go to their next classes to teach. The students just sit inside the room and wait for their next subject teacher. I know, weird right?

"Nuh uh! Pepperoni is way bette—"

"Ms. Kordei."

"Sir Monte."

Lauren, Camila, and Dinah turned their heads to the commotion starting to happen up front. So did the other students.
