Present Time...

Ash's POV

How can I let this happen? What could I have done to win the battle? I kneeled down and picked up Pikachu.

"You battled hard. That's all that matters."

"Pika..."

Clemont, Bonnie, and Serena ran up to me but I met them half way.

"Guys, I need some time to myself." I walked passed my friends we just stood there and watched me walk away.

I went to the Pokemon Center and gave my pokemons to Nurse Joy.

"It will take awhile for your pokemons to fully heal. You may wait in the lobby." Nurse Joy said

"Thank you, Nurse Joy." I walked out of the Pokemon Center and walked to the park. I saw Pokemon battles going on which reminded of my battle against Diantha. I headed back to the Pokemon Center. When I entered the Pokemon Center, I saw Clemont and Bonnie sitting on the couch. Wait... Where's Serena?

"Ash!" They exclaimed.

"Hey guys..." I said with a low voice. "Where's Serena?"

"She went to the market. She said she was going to buy some groceries for us."

"O-Ok..."

I got my pokemons from Nurse Joy and went home with Bonnie and Clemont. I couldn't just stay home so I left and took a walk. I walked around the city and went to the park again. I sat on an empty bench and let my pokemons out.

"Hey guys... I'm sorry for letting you guys down today. I should've thought of a better stratgey for facing Diantha. We should've prepped a little longer." They all jumped on me and gave me a huge hug. I guess that was their way of accepting my apology or saying that it wasn't my fault. When they jumped off me, I saw Serena standing in front of me. She had something behind her but she was hiding from me.

"Hey Serena."

"What are you doing here Ash?"

"I... Um... I just needed some fresh air."

"O-Ok. I got you something for you." She handed me a box wrapped with a blue ribbon, the same color as the ribbon I gave Serena. When I unwrapped the box, it was a bracelet but not just any bracelet. It was a bracelet that can hold a mega stone. It was an amazing gift.

"Serena... I don't know what to say."

"I wanted to give you this as a reminder of your adventures in Kalos. I also have a matching bracelet as well." She lifted up her arm and I can see it was exactly the same. But this just made my job a lot more difficult.

"S-Serena... I need to tell you something important."

"What is it?"

"There is no easy way to put this. Serena, I'm going back home to the Kanto Region."

I know that it hurt Serena a lot. Everything that we've been through was just being thrown away. All the journeys we had together just straight into the garbage like nothing ever happened. There was no other way to tell her. She looked at the ground and didn't move nor say anything. It was like she was frozen in time. I wanted to say something but I felt like it will make things worse so I got up and grabbed her hands.

"Serena... I'm sorr-"

"I DON'T WANT YOU TO GO!" She screamed out loud which caused everyone nearby to look at us. She then hugged me really tight to the point where I couldn't breathe. I didn't want to leave her as well but I didn't want to force her to travel with me forever. Her mom lives in the Kalos region and I didn't want to steal Serena away from her. I heard Serena sobbing. I don't like seeing Serena like this so I insisted her to go back home and we'll talk this out with the others. She didn't budge. So I decided to pick her up and carry her home. She didn't struggle at all when I picked her up. Still sobbing, she held onto me and planted her face in my chest. I never wished for this day to come, where I must leave my friends behind. As we entered our apartment, I set her down on her bed. It seems like Clemont and Bonnie weren't home so I locked the door and sat next to her. She continued to hug me but it was less tighter now.

"Ash... Please don't go..." She whispered.

There was a long pause. "Then come back home with me..." I regret saying that. I shouldn't have said that because Serena has been training to become Kalos Queen for a long time. That was her dream and my dream is to become a Pokemon Master.

"Go back home with you?" She was still sobbing.

"Yeah, then you ever have to worry about me leaving you ever."

"But Ash..." She sniffed. "I don't want to go back to Kanto. I want to become Kalos Queen and stay here, with you."

I couldn't think of anything else to say. I wanted to go back home and see my mom, Professor Oak, and my pokemons again but I wanted to stay with Serena. She didn't want to go back to Kanto stay in Kalos with me but I want to journey to new regions and meet new pokemons.

"Serena, let's just go to sleep. A lot has happened today and I just want to put this all aside."

She nodded her head and I tucked her in bed. I grabbed a tissue box and gave it to Serena.

"Serena, if it makes you feel better I won't leave in until I beat Diantha. You saw our battle today, I was no match for her. She beat me so easily. It's going to take me a long time to prepare for our battle again."

"O-Ok Ash." I wiped her tears and sat next to her as she fell asleep. Once she was asleep, I went online to see if there were any news about any mega stones nearby for any of my pokemons. Nothing popped up so decided to try on the bracelet. Before I put it on, I saw something engraved onto it. It said, "For my shining knight in armor, Ash Ketchum." I smiled and looked back at Serena. I was glad to be traveling with her and to have her as my girlfriend. We've been on some crazy adventures. Like that time at Professor Sycamore's Summer Camp where we accidentally fell off the cliff. Or that time when we found that cave and we saw ourselves but the complete opposites of us. Or that time when we helped out a Pokemon Center that didn't have power. Too many great adventures... I smiled as I had flashbacks about how I met Clemont, Bonnie, and Serena. I heard the front door unlock. Bonnie and Clemont just came home with gifts. Wait, why did they have gifts? They were having a conversation where I can hear it.

"Do you think their home yet big brother?" Bonnie asked.

"I don't think so. I don't see their belongings anywhere here. Anyways, we need to hide this from Ash and Serena." Clemont said. What were they hiding from us? I looked through the peephole and saw them wrap the gifts and place it behind the couch. Then, I saw Clemont making his way to the bedroom so I quickly ran to my bed and pulled the covers to make it seem like I was sleeping. The door creaked opened.

"Hm... I guess they came home. Luckily, they're asleep so don't worry about them knowing about the gifts." Clemont whispered to himself. He closed the door and I got back up. I went to see what they were doing now. Bonnie was watching TV and Clemont was preparing dinner. I walked over to Serena's bed and laid myself next to her. She looked peaceful when she was sleeping. I gave her a quick kiss on her forehead and slept. How am I going to tell the others about my situation?
