Part 3

Alisha woke to the sound of pacing from the hallway outside her bedroom door. She stretched one arm out looking for the clock, and used the other hand to rub the sleep out of her eyes. Pulling the small digital box towards her, the little red numbers read 7:08. Both being youtubers and not having to get up for work, very rarely would anyone be up before at the very earliest half past eight. Alisha got up slowly and walked over to the door, as she went towards the door she grabbed at the first thing she saw which was a can of hairspray. Silently she grabbed hold of the door handle and threw the door open and sprayed hairspray into the corridor.

“JESUS CHRIST WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” Katherine shouted through the cloud of hairspray.

“Why are you awake so early I thought you were a murderer or something!!?” Alisha blurted.

They both sat down at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee. “So, care to explain why you’re awake at stupid o’clock?” Alisha asked Katherine.

“I can’t sleep. I ruined it with Dan. He was so nice and I really like him but I messed his face up and he hasn’t replied to my message and he probably hates me.” Katherine said, turning her phone over and over in her hand.

“Katherine, at what time did you send the message?” Alisha asked sceptically.

“When I woke up, must have been about, half sixish.” Katherine replied.

“Well then, maybe the reason he hasn’t replied yet is because it’s a Sunday, and no normal human being is awake this early on a Sunday.” Alisha let out an exhausted sigh and slumped out of the kitchen.

Katherine spent most of the day looking at the clock and then looking at her phone. Alisha’s girlfriend Jenna walked into the kitchen and glanced at Katherine whilst getting a drink out of the fridge.

“Katherine,” Jenna started in her sweet Australian accent “has it occurred to you that, you’ve only been out on one date and maybe, just maybe, you need to calm down a bit. I mean you haven’t left this room the whole day.” She peered at Katherine, one eye slightly squinting. Katherine looked up, as if a light bulb had gone on over her head.

“You’re exactly right,” Katherine’s voice had a tone that could only mean epiphany “I need to get out of the house.” There was a brief pause as Katherine stood from her chair. “I’ll go and see him at his work, apologise in person.” Before Jenna could argue she was out the door.

Katherine got dressed and made the journey over to the Radio 1 building where Dan presented his request show with his best friend and partner in crime AmazingPhil. There was already a large gathering of teenage girls stood outside the building. As Katherine approached several went over to and asked for her to sign things and take pictures. Although Katherine had been making videos for ages she still wasn’t used to the reaction she got when she met fans, the birds of prey really were the best. Anyway, she made it up to the door and used her pass from Youtube HQ to get past security. *side note: I know it’s unrealistic, just go with it* Katherine walked over to reception, before the receptionist could ask her if she needed help, a voice came from behind her.

“Katherine, what are you doing here?” Dan asked.

“Oh, hi.” Katherine said, suddenly her brain dissolved and she had absolutely no clue what to say. She just stood and sort of stared at him blankly. “Here, what I’m doing, I’m here to errm. To see you. Obviously.” Her words slowly trailed out of her brain like a snail that just woke up. “I wanted to come and apologise again for last night and see if your face was okay. Which it is. It’s more than okay. It’s great. Your face is great.” Katherine’s own face at this point had turned quite pink with embarrassment as she realised how strange her sentence structure was.

“Thanks, and yeah my nose feels fine.” Dan replied smiling slightly “Are you okay? You seem a little, off.”

“I’m great. I’m fine. I’m not fine actually, have I (and please tell me the truth) completely fucked this up? Because I really like you and then when you didn’t reply to my message I panicked and thought that you hated me. And now I’m here talking complete nonsense sounding like a stalker. I’ll just leave.”  Katherine turned around and started to walk off, before she could go too far Dan grabbed her hand and spun her back towards him. He took a step closer to her; he gently brushed a strand of hair from her face, his hand caressing her warm blushing cheek. He slightly lifted her face towards his and brushed her lips with his own. Leaning down slightly more his lips pushed against hers. Katherine literally felt herself go weak at the knees. She felt the kiss was holding her up, as if she was about to collapse. The kiss naturally broke apart and Katherine opened her eyes to a smiling Dan, looking down at her. He let go of her and walked off towards the lift without another word.

Katherine’s lips tingled as they also broke into a smile. In a calm sense of peace she walked out of the building and all the way home with a smile on her face.
