Riptide's Account

Riptide woke up and stretched, massaging out the kinks in her back and neck. Ugh. She hated sleeping on land. Riptide knew she had done it for most of her life, but now that she'd slept underwater, she understood that sleeping up here was awful. She never had to stretch underwater, and in her undersea coral palace, she always woke up to fluffy, huggable, adorable little chihuahuas. She sighed. For now, she was stuck on an island. How ironic. Surrounded by water, yet she couldn't swim in it. She longed to breathe in delicious, sweet water instead of dry, scratchy air. Sighing, she changed from her pajamas into her ninja suit and waited for Chen to call her to the Hall. When he finally did after what felt like hours, she quickly raced there and sat down. "Today's game is Capture the Flag." He announced smugly. "Normal rules, and there will be three teams: Kai, Twilight, and Tox, Riptide, Jay, and Neuro," Riptide felt a prickle of excitement when she heard her name- she got to be on a team with Jay! "and Camille, Skylor, and Lloyd. In case you don't know about my version of Capture the Flag (which you don't), the shortest way for me to put it is this: Every team has a flag they may hide. You must get other teams' Flags and bring them back to the Hall. The team whose flag was brought back first loses, and the people on that team play rock-paper-scissors to determine who the real loser is. Sound fun? Good, because you don't really have a choice. Go hide your flags!" Riptide picked up their team's Flag. It was well thought out, blue waves surrounding a blue lighting bolt with a gray background. Riptide and Jay walked into the forest with Neuro, holding the Flag. "Let's hide our flag deep underwater." Jay suggested. "That way, only you can reach it, Riptide." Riptide and Neuro both agreed, and they set off towards the lake. Riptide dove in with the Flag, taking a deep, refreshing breath of water. It wasn't scratchy or dry or rough like air, and felt soothing to Riptide's sore muscles. She swam down towards the bottom of the clear, blue lake, and buried the flag's pole in the sand, so it would be harder to get and wouldn't float away. She swam back up. Just as she broke the surface, Chen's screechy voice split the air. "Hiding time is over! You may find the other teams' flags now!" "I'll guard the Flag because I can sense people coming." Neuro decided. "You two, get the others' flags." "OK!" Jay agreed, and he and Riptide set off towards Camille, Skylor, and Lloyd's hiding area. "There it is!" Riptide whispered excitedly, pointing towards a hill. The Flag proudly waved on the top, it's golden pole glinting. "Twilight would say that that's a good strategy." She informed Jay. "Something about fighting uphill being harder or something." Jay laughed. "Cole would say the same," he agreed. Suddenly, Camille appeared behind them, holding a knife to Jay's throat. "Hey!" He complained. "Quiet!" Camille ordered. "Come with me or else." She forced them both up the mountain to a place where Skylor could see them easily. Once Camille vanished again (Riptide realized that she was shifting into a lizard), Riptide used water vapor to camouflage her and Jay as clouds, grabbing the Flag and running away with it. "Hey!" Skylor yelled, rushing after them. Camille shifted into a bird and flew after them. Lloyd heard the yell and tried to stop them by throwing an energy ball at the ground beneath their feet. However, as they tripped, Jay threw the Flag as far as he could, smashing through Chen's windows and into the Hall. Angrily, Chen stalked out of the building. "You broke my windows! Instant losing!" He declared, calling everyone back to the Hall. Riptide groaned at their horrible luck. "Rock, paper, scissors?" She sighed. Jay played her and she won, so he played Neuro. Neuro lost, so he was out. "Loser!" Chen gleefully yelled, forgetting about his winners as he pressed the button for Neuro's trapdoor. Suddenly, Neuro's eyes seemed to clear and brighten. "Chen is working with Chassis and Galactic!" He yelled before he fell. "Save yourself, my Queen!" Shocked, Riptide exchanged a glance with Twilight. Chen shrugged. "Who?" He dismissed carelessly. "Oh, and tomorrow is a fun game of Truth or Dare!"
