Riptide's Account
Riptide watched the Sun lazily rise. She was sitting vigil, a tradition commonly used where she ruled to respect the dead. Since Riptide had no way of knowing whether Jay was dead or not, she had decided to honor him anyways. She had stayed up all night, and now that the sun had risen, she was ready to end the vigil. She sat up stiffly and made herself some breakfast, barely poking at it. She wasn't hungry. She put on her ninja suit, and decided to wait in the Hall for Chen to arrive. Once Chen finally appeared, he looked shocked and annoyed to see her there ahead of him. They waited in silence for everyone else to arrive, and then Chen announced bowling: but with a catch. There were no gutter balls; instead, your ball had to make it past obstacles and hit the pins. "There are only three rounds, so make it good!" Chen explained, leading the way to his personal bowling alley. It's huge, Riptide thought as Chen led them into a gigantic personal bowling alley. "Round One!" Chen announced in his high-pitched voice. Riptide launched her ball, but it fell through a trapdoor and didn't hit any pins. Kai threw his ball, but it stopped after hitting a wooden post. Skylor's ball floated over the obstacles and hit all ten pins, no doubt using her gravitational Powers. "Hey! No cheating!" Twilight called out angrily. Chen laughed. "It's not cheating! This is the Tournament of Elements, after all!" Riptide could hear Twilight muttering that two can play at a game. On her turn, Twilight used the wind to hit all ten pins. Skylor looked annoyed. "Copycat," she accused. "Calling names now, are we, Skylor?" Kai teased, standing up for his girlfriend. Riptide sighed. Jay would've done that for her, if he hadn't been eliminated. I wonder what he's doing now, she thought. I hope he's safe. "Round Two!" Chen announced. My best chance is to beat Kai, since Twilight and Skylor are both using their powers, Riptide thought. With a burst of determination, she aimed and hit six pins. Kai hit one pin after his ball was sent spinning up in a mini-tornado. Skylor and Twilight hit all ten. "Round Three." Chen announced, a bored look on his face. Riptide felt a tingling sensation. The last round! Riptide aimed for the pins, but then looked at Kai and Twilight. Twilight seemed anxious, not knowing whether her friend or new boyfriend would have to leave. Skylor was wearing an infuriating smirk, and Kai was trying not to be nervous for Twilight's sake. Riptide realized that she couldn't get Kai out, or Twilight would be really sad, and possibly lose. Plus, she'd rather see Jay again sooner rather than later. With a sad smile at Twilight, she threw her ball into a pit. Twilight gasped when she realized what Riptide had done. "Riptide, no..." Riptide heard her whisper. She chewed her lip. It had had to be done. Kai launched his ball and hit eight pins. Twilight and Skylor hit all ten, and Chen announced that Riptide was the loser. With a salute to Twilight, Riptide fell down the trapdoor. A shocked silence followed her, punctuated only by Skylor's laughing, so Riptide could hear Chen announce an obstacle course tomorrow before she hit the ground. As her world began to fade, Riptide thought about Jay. She smiled. She'd be seeing him soon.
Author's Note:
Oh, boohoo, sad chapter... You all thought Skylor was leaving, didn't you? But she didn't! So HA! >:) Anyways, it'll be time for an obstacle coursee tomorrow! Of course, now we REALLY don't know who'll lose. Kai? Or Twilight? Or possibly Skylor? Hahahahahaha! You'll never know until I write the next chapter!!! ;)
