CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Carolina pulls into the school parking lot a little earlier than usual. Saying I'm surprised is an understatement. I'm shocked, considering it's a Monday and she's still complaining about feeling hungover even though her party took place on Friday night and she'd taken the rest of the weekend to recover.

Penelope is out of the car and off before Carolina can turn the ignition off. Alesha, Carolina, and I stick back and get out as a group before making our way into the school. Carolina mutters that she's going to get some pills from the nurse before school starts and branches off, leaving only Alesha and I to walk to my locker.

I'm not longer awkward with Alesha anymore. We'd talked a lot on Friday and I feel a lot more comfortable with her now. Surprisingly, we have a lot in common. We both like to watch baseball and to do athletic stuff every once an a while. We both enjoy listening to music and singing along even though we are both just average at the singing part. And we both are into Teen Wolf. I think our friendship is going to be a great one.

When we round the corner to the hallway where my locker is located, I immediately spot Wes leaning against my locker, talking to Park. Alesha looks uncomfortable and stops short. She's admitted to me that she's not good at getting to know new people, no matter how comfortable she gets to be around Carolina, Penelope, and me.

"I'll just see you later, Cara," Alesha tells me quietly. I nod and we bid our goodbyes. She's off in the opposite direction before I can say anything more than a goodbye.

I shrug her bashfulness off and walk over to Wes and Park. "What's up, groupies?" I greet, slinging my backpack off my shoulder. It falls to the floor with a loud thud and I grimace. That bag was heavy because I had tons of homework to do last night. That's the perks of procrastination. I never get it done in school which means I have to do it all at home. That does nothing to help my nonexistent back problems.

Wes bends down and grabs my bag, picking it up and holding it out as I unzip it and unpack the books, dropping them into a pile at the bottom of my locker. Usually I'm big on organization, but today I am tired and still in a bad mood about Griffyn.

"Oh, Park --" I turn around and find Parker nowhere to be seen. Frowning in confusion I turn to Wes then realize that he's still holding my empty backpack. "Oh, sorry." I take it from him and hang it in my locker.

            He shrugs, "It's fine."

"Where's Parker?" I ask, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. Nervous habit. It's not like Wes and I are strangers, but we've never really had much alone time together before. We've only actually hung out when Griffyn is around, and even then, it was weird. I know Wes to be quite a flirt around the girls but when he's just around Griffyn and I, he gets all stuttery for some reason. Long story short, we aren't the closest of friends, so right now, the silence is pretty much complete... awkward.
