The Fountain of Youth

Chapter 2: The New Buccaneer ✔️

(POV Carolina)

I was lying on the ground, feels like hours just by being in one place. I had so many thoughts in my head I couldn't keep up. I was worried for my family, I was worried for my brother. Then I felt a hand on my shoulder, I turned around to see a man. I screamed from the top of my lungs and the man fell down to his knees.  He looked like a nice guy who brings no harm.

"I'm so sorry if I scared you", the man said.
"It's ok", I said.

His blond hair, gold as coins, waved in the wind and his pretty blue, crystal and lime green eyes stared into mine. I felt different after meeting this man. It almost felt like I knew him or seen him before. So maybe I can trust him.

"Are you okay miss", the man said.
"Yes I'm fine, who are you and what's your name", I replied.
"Well, my name is Bucky and I used to be part of Ponce de Leòn group until they abandoned me", Bucky said.
"That's terrible, why did they do that", I said.
"Because the map that people thought that "he" found was actually not the right map to the Fountain of Youth", he replied.
"Wait does that mean that you were the one who found the map", I asked.
"Yes, he told me I was his most trustworthy person, but now I see that he used me", Bucky said.
"Wait, have you seen my brother", I said.
"How does he look like", Bucky asked
"He has brown hair, freckles by his cheek, blue eyes like mine", I said.
"Maybe I did him nearby a shipwreck", he said.
"That's my boat, take me to where you the boat", I said.
"Ok miss", he said.

When we began walking I lost balance and I fell down a hill with sand covering my face. Bucky ran straight to me.

"I'm to weak to walk", I said.
"Do you want me to carry you", he asked.
"Well, if you have the energy to do it", I said.

Without responding he picks me up and he began walking to where he saw the shipwreck. Time passed until I was devastated of what I saw, the ship broken into 2 pieces, the map nearby the shore, and worst of all my brother was laying there. I jump off and tried to get to my brother with the energy I had.

"Javier, can you hear me", I said.
"Please wake up, I can't lose you", I said as I touched his face.
Then I began to cry,
"This is my fault. If I hadn't lose my grip we would have never fell into the cave or find a map and be stuck on this island."
"Miss, let me check on your brother, I am also a doctor", he said.

Bucky stood up and went to my brother.
"He's still breathing", Bucky said, "he's just unconscious right now."

I leaped with joy and started thanking him. After that I gave him a hug. Realizing what I just did, I felt embarrassed.

"Oh, I'm so sorry", I said.
"It's ok miss", he said.
What are we going to now, if I'm weak and my brother is unconscious", I said.
"If you want we can make a sled using some wood from your boat and some vines from the trees", he said.
"Yeah, that sounds like a great idea", I said.
"You go get the vines, and I start to look for some wood we can use", Bucky said.

With all my energy I tried walking and it was painful, my legs cramped and wobbled every time I took a step. Finally, I was able to see some vines hanging down from trees. To reach the vines I had to climb up the tree, but I knew it would be hard for me so I grabbed the ones that were closer to the ground and brought them to Bucky. After making 3 trips Bicky finally tells me,

"I think we have enough to make a sled for your brother. Are you able to keep on walking or should I make another sled", he said.
"Well, I think it would be hard for you to pull on two sleds, you might run out of energy yourself", I said.
"Yeah", he said.
"Oh and thank you for helping me", I said.
"Your welcome miss", Bucky said.
"Help me pick up your brother", he said.
"Okay", I said.

Bucky grabbed my brother's legs meanwhile I grabbed his arms. We gently put him on the sled and we began walking.
"Wait, I almost forgot something", I said.
"Hurry back miss", Bucky said.
I ran to the boat and grabbed the treasure map.  I hid it in my pocket so Bucky wouldn't see it.

"Ok, we can go now", I said.
Then we continued walking....
After a while I noticed something moving in the bushes, I thought it could have been someone watching us.

"Did you see that", I said.
"You mean in the bushes", Bucky said.
"Yeah, to me it looked like a person", I said.
"Really, maybe it could have been a large creature", he said.
"I think that would be worse", I said.

Then the sled began to move, my brother started to wake up.

"Ugh, what happened, who are you, get away from my sis", Javier said.
Bucky started to freak out. I knew what I had to do,
"Bro take it easy, this is Bucky, he helped us", I said.
"How", Javier said.
"Well, he was the one who found you and we both made a sled to keep you on when you were unconscious", I said.
"Oh, thank you Bucky", Javier said.
"Your welcome. Now that your brother is awake, you can hop on the sled since you need to rest miss", Bucky said.
"Oh, why didn't you say anything sooner, here sis, rest on the sled", Javier said.
"Oh thank you guys. By the way who is going to check the bushes", I said.

Both boys just stared at each other and then they looked back at me,
"Fine, I'll go", I said.
"No, I'll check", said Bucky.
"Thank you", I said.

Then Bucky grab some leftover wood we had and he went to the bushes. Then I laid down on the sled. I closed my eyes......
As I began to wake up I realized that I was still on the sled, my brother stood right next to it.

"Hey sis", Javier said.
"Hey bro, is Bucky here yet", I asked.
"No he isn't", he said.
"Why is he taking so long", I asked.
"Maybe he got lost and he's finding his way back", Javier said.

Then out of nowhere a cage fell on us. Then a group of men surrounds us with swords in there hands.

"Oh, poor little kids, lost on an island with this fool", a man said.

Then someone threw Bucky on the ground. He was filled with bruises and his arm was bleeding like someone beat him up. When I saw Bucky, I gasped.
"Why did you hurt him, he didn't do anything to you", I said.
"Oh really", a voice said.
"Who said that", I asked.

Then a man approached us and I couldn't believe who it was .........
It was Ponce de Leòn.
