The Fountain of Youth

Chapter 1: An Unexpected Adventure ✔️

(POV Carolina)

Just a regular Saturday morning, like always my brother and I began practicing for the competition, new explorers would be chosen to go in groups and go on missions, when my mom came in. She told Javier and I to go to the grocery store and get some eggs, milk, and bananas for breakfast. We went to a nearby store called "Super Mercado", grabbed everything as fast as we could and then we left.
As we were walking home my brother and I noticed a hole in the middle of the fields. In my opinion I though it was strange that no one even noticed it, even the farmers. We decided to go in; leaving the groceries behind. My brother went in first because he wanted to check if everything was safe.

"All clear sis", he said to me.
"Ok bro, I'm coming down", I replied

As I went down the rocks I slipped on one and began falling. He went after me until he finally reached my hand. He grabbed a nearby object to keep us from falling.

"Sis, I need you to swing to that rope over there", he said as he pointed to it.
"Ok, I think I can reach it", I said
"Do it just like we practice everyday sis", he said.

Reaching for the rope I lost my grip we both fell down into a, deep dark cave. Regaining conscious, I see my brother on the ground. I helped him get up, but I noticed his face is filled with dirt and scratches.

"Javier, are you okay, I could find some water to clean up your face?"
"No sis, I will be okay", he replied.
"Ok, then let's explore the cave", I said.
"Ok sis", he said.

When we began exploring we both saw a bright light and then it faded away,
"Let's follow it", Javier said.
"Yeah, but would that be dangerous", I said.
Then my brother ran off, follow the light.
"Wait, come back", I said.

I ran to him, but something didn't feel right; he just stood there like a statue. As I approached him I saw what he was seeing; a treasure map laying in the middle of nowhere. Opening by itself we saw Fountain of Youth in big, bold letters. As soon as I touched it, a magical door opened in front of us. As we ran out we saw a boat and so bags on top.

"What is this doing here in the middle of nowhere", Javier said.
"Maybe some nice people left it for us", I said.

Then we heard splash, the water moved and part of a figure popped out.

"What was that", Javier said.
"I don't know", I replied.

Then it came again, but this time even closer. It jumped out of the water, flying above our heads. It was a sea serpent; with its blue skin matching up with the water, it disappeared from sight. We jumped into the boat, removed the bags, and paddling as fast as we could.
Then out of nowhere the  sea serpent jumped out from the water again. This time we paddled even faster when a gust of wind pushed away from the creature.
That was some good news, but the bad news was we were heading straight for an island.

"Javier, paddle even faster than you did", I said.
"Why Carolina", replied my brother.
"Because we're in big trouble", I replied.

With all the energy we had, we weren't able to move the boat away from the heavy winds; then we hit the island, breaking our boat apart; flying out, I hit my head on the ground. I began to feel light-headed, feeling weak that I couldn't even stand up. The only thing I could do was close my eyes. I waited for this horrible dream to pass, but I knew that this was no dream....
This was reality.
