Unlike most frail kings my father was a strong large man who intimidated those with just his presence. But I knew underneath he was a big, soft, lovable, gullible teddy bear-unfortunately this was not one of those times.
"Do you know how worried I was about you!" My father yelled at the top of his lungs pacing back and forth nearly pulling out his hair. "I left a note." I giggled lightly shrugging as Airavata and Ariyday shook their heads with sweat drops. "A note! A note she says! A note that just read-Ahem- Dear father be back soon, doodle face!" Ariyday snickered a little bit but was quickly jabbed by Airavata's elbow. "Why in the world would you go across the sea just to find some barbarian!?"
"Actually he is a famous gladiator and warrior that I wish to participate in your tournament." I smiled widely rocking on the heels of my feet. Frustrated, he fell back into his throne pinching the bridge of his nose. "Please say this is not another ploy to avoid getting married." He pleaded with a deep sigh. "No no, he is a honest warrior that I put all of my faith in." I said tugging on Masrur's arm to pull him forward. "He is one of the legendary Fanalis, he will make more than a impression, I promise father." I said bowing as he looked over Masrur. "-Sigh- If it will keep you from running off, then so be it." He groaned waving off his guards that had been surrounding us with spears. "Thank you daddy, we look forward to the tournament!" I giggled as I skipped away. Groaning he rubbed his temples in frustration "That girl is going to be the death of me, if not this kingdom!"
"I was almost for sure he would have my pelt on his mantle this time Lady Balendin." Ariyday shivered rubbing the hair of his mane that was still standing on end. "He does love your mane, but I would never let him cut you down. He'd have to go through me first!" I said spinning on my heel grabbing his cheeks and pulling on them gently. "Sides you are too cute to hang on a wall aren't you my kitty kitty." I laughed as he quickly swatted my hands away. "He purrs by the way." Airavata whispered to Masrur who flinched with a little amusement. "Sh-shut up Airavata!" Ariyday yelled about to pounce on him.
"Ahem." A man coughed earning the attention of our small group. He had brunette hair that was messy on the top but tied in a braid in the back. His armor shown brightly as if it had never seen combat, with a blue cape on his shoulder that draped across his side.
"I see you are back Balendin, the real world too much for you?" He scoffed looking over our group, his eyes landing on Masrur. "How dare you address my lady in such a way!" Ariyday growled readying himself to attack him, but I threw up my arm. "Yoroi I see that you too have joined the tournament." I said in a stern voice ignoring his taunts, obviously somewhat irritated. "Yes, I would have expected one of your followers to join but I guess they don't allow pets." He snickered to himself as Ariyday roared at him, pressing against my arm. "Actually I went and I found a real man worthy of my hand." I bit back with a grin as I let my arm down for Masrur to take a step forward. "Tch, I hope he is worthy enough for you to have gone so far out of your way to find."
"Oh believe me he will blow away the competition." I promised as he sharply glared at me with a grunt of disdain. "Why can't we just throw away this competition and cut to the chase?" He asked with a shrug, quickly withdrawing his previous lashes of anger. "Sides either way in the end you will be mine." He said with a dark glint in his eye patting me on the shoulder before flipping around and walking away with a cocky attitude. "Why didn't you let me rip out his throat?" Ariyday asked crossing his arms angrily. "Because that is the champion father chose, and if I let you then your pelt really would be mounted on his wall." I warned flicking his nose causing him to whimper and hold it. "You know I would allow your father to have my head on a spit if it meant you were happy." Ariyday mumbled holding his snoot.
"Sides there is something off about him, he used to be much kinder now he is just..." I said tapping my chin.
"A prick?" Airavata mused. "No I think he is under a dark spell." Masrur commented, watching as Yoroi turned giving him one last glance. "A dark spell?" I mumbled. "No way, Ariyday or I would have sensed if it was a spell." Airavata exclaimed throwing his arms up in the air. "This is no normal spell, the host carries a weapon or accessory of some sort that bares great power but dark consequences." He explained before pulling me into his chest. "But I won't allow him to harm you." Masrur promised as I cuddled into his chest.
"Right~ Now we must prepare you for the competition!" Airavata announced raising a single finger into the air. "Yeah big boy it starts tomorrow!" Ariyday laughed pulling us apart and pushing Masrur in the other direction. "Now my lady please stay safe while we prepare our friend here." Airavata smirked as they ran away. "Sure just leave your dear princess alone in this terrifying and dangerous world." I said sarcastically as I watched them fade into the distance. "A dark spell?" I mumbled to myself trying to remember if I saw anything off about Yoroi's appearance.

I will try to keep these updates to at least once every week or at least every two weeks. But if you get tired of waiting check out my other Magi story "Just Another Enemy." If you are a fan of Kouen or Hakuryuu. It is a split routed story so you get to choose who the main character ends up with in the end. Or just read both route endings idk I don't control what you read. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
