*Iris's POV*

All I remember, for what seems like an eternity, was darkness; an endless sea of it.

An occasional sharp pain would almost bring me out of it, but I was always re-consumed by the immense blackness just as quickly.

"She's losing A LOT of blood Malik, what should we do?"

The other person, Malik I'm assuming, answered back, "If you want to save her we'll have to take her to the workshop."

The two voices caused me to stir, and finally I was able to open my eyes and see light.

But as soon as I was truly awake, the realization of what had happened, and the pain of my injuries hit me like a ton of bricks. I let out a bloodcurdling scream and began to sob uncontrollably.

So much pain, I need Micah .. but I may never see him again ..

The thought only made my sobs wrack my body harder, and more pain exploded from my injuries.

"Malik, hand my the syringe with the painkiller."

An absolutely stunning face came into my view and smiled down at my sadly, "Calm now, we're gonna make the pain go away and fix you up."

I felt a sharp poke in my right arm, and within minutes all of my previous pain had subsided. My eyelids began to feel heavy, and I could tell that whatever they had given me was strong.

Drowsiness drifted over me and dominated most of my senses; I sighed contently. I looked around the little room I was in before looking back to where the handsome young man was.

"Feeling better aren't we?"

I nodded at his question.

"Good, we're gonna patch you up nicely, and then we're gonna bring you home to Prince Micah. We already left him a letter, so he knows you'll be back soon."

He flashed me a blindingly bright smile and I smiled back at him sleepily.

The effects of the painkiller were full force now and I could feel sleep quickly dragging me down, "Please make sure that I make it home, I miss Micah soooooo much."

"We will," another voice answered, "no need to worry."

That was the last thing I heard before the darkness, yet again, took hold of me.

Memories of abusive foster parents began to run across the back of my eyelids.

*Micah's POV*

It's only been two days, but it feels like two years since the last time I saw Iris.

"Still no sign of her or where she could've gone your majesty. We've sent search groups well into the neighboring states and still, nothing."

I could feel my temper and anxiety rising, "I don't care of you have to send your groups into neighboring COUNTRIES. FIND HER."

I gripped the large wooden desk in front of me to restrain myself and felt it snap beneath my hands.

A hand lightly touched my shoulder and I nearly snarled.

My mother looked down and me sadly, "I know this is difficult honey, but calm down. Acting out like this will only cloud your judgment and make things harder."

I sighed, feeling utterly helpless and defeated, and laid my head on the broken desk.

My mother bent down and kissed me on the head, "We'll find her sweetie, I promise you we will."

The footsteps of someone running caught my ear and I swiftly jerked my head up.

Just as quickly, a member of one of the search parties burst through the door with a letter in hand.

"Sir!" he bent over to catch his breath before holding up the plain, white envelope, "We found this just outside of the property."

He handed it to me and I opened it with caution.

Iris is safe, we will have her home to you soon.

*Royce's POV*

The hours seemed to have blurred together after we took the girl to our warehouse and began to repair her broken body.

During the time we'd had her she obviously suffered from more than one nightmare - it hurt me to know that she was in pain and I could do nothing to help her.

"Malik, hand me the needle and thread."

Most of her injuries had already been taken care of. Broken bones were either set or in a cast, gashes were closed and cleaned, and only a few minor things were left.

When the last cut was tended to, I stood back to look at my work.

"Well, other than looking like she was hit by a bus, I think she'll be fine."

I laughed slightly at my rather dark comment.

"Uh, Royce. I think we may have a small problem."

Malik's statement broke my train of thought, "Why's that?"

He turned his phone towards me so that I could read a text : Daphne - "Where are you two, and where is the girl."
