                                                                            Ember

When I first arrived it was dazzling. Everything about the school was perfect. To the architecture - to the color - to the design - to even the floors and bathrooms. It was about after a hour of admiring the place I realized  that my first class was over. Mrs. Clover-wood had asked us all to fill out a document trying to get closer to us and see what she could do for us. She was a kind lady so about after 6 minutes I had completed the sheet.

"Wow, Ms. Springtale, I had presumed that someone would finish as so quick as you had." She told me looking down at the paper occasionally.

"Well I guess it was pretty easy Mrs. Clover-wood" I answered her back shyly.

I didn't like when people used my last-name as it was so childish and lame - maybe something you would find in a children's book.

" Please remain at your seat for the next few minutes as the rest of the students fill out their sheets." She said this as she handed me and an Algebra # 2 book that was awfully heavy.

" Um.. Ok" I told her and headed for my seat. It was a heavy stack of mathematics and geometry.

I went through it quick. It was kind of a gift for me. I could read things and solve problems at a abnormal speed and every year was placed in the gifted or accelerated classes. I never really gave a large thought to it but I guess it helped me a lot through school.

After about 40 more minutes there was about one student left with the sheet and I had finishing the two books. I again went up to the teacher's desk to turn them in.

"Here you go" I stated with a fake smile.

" I will be going now. It states in the school handbook rule # 78: If any student has finished their assignment and any extra-curricular work, they are free to leave that class and remain on school grounds as long as no disruption is made." I stated this and started to leave the door. I felt the hot eyes of all the students in the room, glaring at me.

Suddenly I felt a soft hand grasp on to my forearm.

"Meet me after school" The teacher told me with anxious eyes and I had no option but to except.

"Ok" And with that I headed out the door trying now to slip on my new heals.
