"Six tablespoons butter." I read to Macey. She looked up at me with a confused glare.

"Are you SURE it says six tablespoons?"

"Yes! I'm entirely sure. Just because I messed up ONE TIME-" I tried to continue but Peyton shut me up. He glared at me also.

"You fucked up those brownies so bad, Fallon." Peyton gagged.

"PEYTON, DON'T YOU USE THAT KIND OF LANGUAGE IN MY HOUSE!" my mother screamed from her office. I laughed and stuck my tongue out at him.

"What next, baby." Carter said, placing his hand on my lower back. Max Devonte and Carter Fletcher, Macey's friends, and my friends Paisley Lucas and Holland Kade were also with us.

"Beat butter for thirty seconds and add one fourth of a cup granulated sugar and one fourth teaspoon salt. Beat till fluffy." Macey did as I commanded and we continued with the recipe.

"Stir in one cup all purpose flour. Pat dough onto the bottom of the greased pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for fifteen minutes." Carter put the crust in the oven.

Earlier, we decided we were gonna all walk Mac and just hang out. I'm not saying we didn't do that, we did. But when we came back, we were all hungry, and it turns out that while we were gone, Mom and Danny had finished off my famous lemon bars. Macey practically strangled them, but Peyton stopped her.

Holland, Paisley, Macey and I went and sat at my kitchen table and I pulled out two decks of cards. My family has a shelf attached to the bottom of the table where we keep all our decks of cards. Each pair of us played a game of Egyptian Rat Slap. First, Holland and me verses Macey and Paisley. Then Me and Macey verses Holland and Paisley. And finally, Paisley and me verses Holland and Macey.

By the time our games were finished, the crust was done and the boys (bless their selfish, hungry hearts) had the rest of the ingredients out.

"Beat two eggs. Then add three fourths of a cup white granulated sugar, two tablespoons of flour, one fourth of a cup lemon zest, give or take three tablespoons lemon juice - depending on how lemony you like them- and one fourth of a teaspoon baking powder." I read to her.

Macey and Peyton continued to put the previous ingredients together while Carter wrapped his arms around my waist. He buried his head into the crook of my neck and inhaled deeply, making me giggle.

"Blehhhhhh," Macey gagged.

"What now, Fal?" Peyton asked, patting Macey's back condescendingly.

"Uh... Beat for three minutes or until slightly thickened." So, for the next three minutes, the four of us sat, making weird faces at each other. Finally the timer dinged and Macey turned off the mixer.

"Pour over the baked layer and bake in a 350 degree oven for 25 to thirty minutes longer or until light golden brown around the edges and the center is set."
