The pitter patter of the rain drops echoed in the distance, filling the drums and tanks with it's tiny clear liquid. She watched from the window mesmerized by each one, each one that was different and unique in its own way than the other.

Her eyes zoomed in on one specific drop that seemed to move in slow motion, it clashed against some but still raced on, she raised her hands with the tip of her index finger outwards, awaiting the arrival of this specific drop.

It landed with a thud on the pad of her index, glistening from the sunlight, it began making a trail down her finger and to the palm of her hands, but it didn't stop there, no it continued down her wrist until it dried up or more likely disappeared.

A smile that was so rare appeared on her face, it was so scarce for her to experience the rain, for there had been a drought upon the land. She had no doubt that it was for the evil ways of mankind that God decided to punish them.

The deeds of man were so cruel that it made her stomach weep, but how ironic must it be that since the drought some have transformed to religion, others changing their ways but some will always remain the same. God must have seen the change and had mercy upon them.

The echo of footsteps brought her out of her thoughts, causing her feet to move in action and run down the hall away from them. Grabbing mops , brushes and brooms she rushed to the nearest room and began scrubbing, forgetting just for a moment that each maid had a specific job.

"LILIANA!" the loud screech ripped through her ear causing a wince to rock her body.

"Yes madam." her reply was soft, even to her own ears.

"Guards! Get in here, how many times have I given you a specific duty and you end up doing something different you insolent child?" Her mistress walked through the doors, dress sweeping in her wake .

"This once madam".

"Is that so?" A chuckle escaped her cherry coated lips, eyebrows raised in question,"look at me when I'm speaking to you".

Raising her head Liliana tried to bravely look her in the eyes "Yes madam, this is the first time it won-"

"And I will ensure it be your last." Overly pampered hands gripped the whip that was given by the guards.

This was a well known procedure to Lilly, she made no arguments or fuss but obediently went on her knees, bowed her head and waited for the agonizing pain to come. Swoosh , swoosh, swoosh. It was like hot lava on her skin, one that caused a hurricane of fury and agony to tear through her body.

"You're lucky you have duties to complete for the Prince's arrival, or I would show you hell, making you wish you weren't born", with that she swept out the room, her silky black dress with ruby designs slowly sliding behind her.

A painful chuckle escaped her, if she didn't know hell already, she didn't want to, if what that mistress of hers did to her over the years was not hell she would prefer die than experience it.

Liliana quietly hummed a silent tune while she scrubbed the floors as slowly as she could, her back still ached but she still tried her best.

The dried tears on her cheeks made it feel crystallized but she did nothing to remove them, using it as a way to distract her from the painful sensations on her back.

The queen, her mistress, wanted the floors so shiny she could see her reflection and Liliana had no doubt she was serious. Her shoulders ached but she pushed through all of that because she knew the consequences if she stopped.

Even though she used all her strength, Liliana still could not see her reflection much less the Queen's. Thinking about the impending punishment a tear fell from her eye and into the bucket.

How I wish this water would make the floor shine she thought, she watched in slow motion as the tear rippled against the water causing a sigh to escape her lips.

Dipping the rag in the water once more she wiped it against the floor, the swellings on her back pounded, causing her to close her eyes, praying
for relief. When the pounding stop she opened them only to release a gasp. The spot she had been wiping was sparkling, so much so she could see her reflection.

Liliana blinked, trying to make sense of what happened. She had spent the last hour scrubbing the floor but it had no effect.

It couldn't be she thought, did my tear do.....? No impossible.

A chuckle escaped her lips and she shook her head, she must be going crazy, there was no way that her tear would make the floor shine, it was highly unheard of.

Shaking away the absurd thought she quickly redid the entire room. God knows she had a lot to do with not enough time.

Gathering her things she exited the room and like a humble servant she went to continue her duties, ignoring her bloody dress and open cuts.

but if she had stayed a little longer she would have seen the impossible possible.
