When I got dressed and headed downstairs, Will wasn't there, so he must've already driven to school. Hazel started blushing as soon as I was able to sit in the passenger seat of her silver Toyota.
I looked at her like she was crazy and said,"What?"
"Okay...so there's something I've been wanting to tell you since yesterday, but I wanted to wait until you were feeling better,"Hazel said, with a huge smile on her face.
"Okaaaaaayyy...?"
"I have a date to Will's party..."
I brightened up. "And..who is it?."
"It was Frank!"
"O. M. G. Shut. Up," I said jokingly.
"I know!!!"
And she screamed. And squealed. And screamed some more.
"Wow, Hazel. That's awesome,"I said, uncovering my ears. "Well, if you wanted some alone time with him this morning, I can always walk to school."
"You're sure?"
"Of course. It's cool."
"Okay. Thanks Nico."
I get out of the car, ready and willing. I don't want to be in there with those two lovebirds anyway. It only reminds me of what I can't have.
---Time Lapse--in school---
I walked into my first class, geometry, secretly hoping to see Will again. There he was, sitting in the front of the room, as always.
"Hey,"I said to him. "I...didn't see you leave this morning."
"Yeah I got here early so I could come to band practice," Will said, as-a-matter-of-factly.
"Oh. Okay...guess I'll see you around, then,"I told him. He still didn't look at me, or say anything this time. I think that meant to just find a seat, far away from Will.
What is Will's problem? He seemed fine yesterday...
But then again, I was fine yesterday, too. It's definitely not impossible for things to change overnight. Especially for people like me.
---Time Lapse----Lunch--
After morning classes ended, I walked into the cafeteria in hope that Will would be there, acting the same as he always is. But I was wrong. Will Solace was sitting at the loneliest table in the cafeteria, in the corner where no one ever goes.
What the heck made him want to sit over there?
Strangely, I decided to be the outgoing one.
"Sup, Solace?"
"Hi."
"Mind if I-"
"Hey, Will," a feminine voice said. A girl with brown hair and green eyes sat down next to Will. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
"Hey Gwen," Will said with a half smile.
"Um....." I said, standing there awkwardly.
"Oh, sorry Nico. Gwen, this is Nico. He's my, uh..."
"Pleased to meet you, Nico," Gwen said. Thank God she was smart enough to realize the tension between us three.
I believe I have just been crowned the King of Awkward Moments.
"Ok, well... see you guys,"I said.
I turned and left before they could stop me.
Oh this is bad. This is very bad.
