When I wake up, I find myself lying on a bed, in a room with walls painted a soft yellow. My backpack was stained with blood and sat to the side of the room.
A shirtless Will walks in. "Oh, good, you're awake."
Listen buddy, I've been through enough, so you don't have to torture me with your perfect abs.
It's just inhumane."Will." I coughed. Blood came from my mouth and onto my hand. "Will, you shouldn't have done that."
"What do you mean? She was about to kill you, man!" Will said. "Here, I brought you some soup for when you feel well enough to eat."
"No, Will you don't understand," I coughed again. "She's going to be even more furious when she wakes up."
"Who gives a crap? All I knew was that I needed to get you out of there."
"But Wi-" I started to object.
"Nico, you definitely have some sort of head injury. And partly because you're asthmatic, you're breathing pattern's been a little off, but you don't seem to be affected by pain...interesting," Will said.
"How do you know that?"
"What?"
"How do you know all that? Like, you know I'm asthmatic?" I asked, feeling a little creeped out.
"I don't know, I've always had this mysterious way of knowing what's wrong with people. Physically and emotionally."
"Oh." Hopefully he hadn't picked up on my "already-starting-to-grow" feelings for him.
"Yeah. I tied my shirt around your head to stop some of the blood. The doctors will have to deal with your chest."
"No Will. Don't take me to the hospital."
"Why not?"
"Because they'll ask who my legal guardian is."
"And?"
I face palmed. "My legal guardian is Melissa, stupid."
He looked hurt for a second, and I almost wanted to take back what I said. But Nico di Angelo doesn't apologize.
"Oh yeah," was all he said.
"Just promise me that you won't go to the hospital or the police."
"But-"
"Will," I said sternly.
He sighed. "Fine."
"Thank you."
"I'll...I'll just leave you alone and let you get some rest. Don't strain yourself trying to get up. If you need anything, just call me. I'm right downstairs."
He tossed me my cellphone.
"I put my number in your phone already," Will said.
Cough. More blood. "Th-thanks Will."
He left the room. All I could think about after he left was how mad Melissa would be when she:
A) Wakes up and remembers what happened
B) Wakes up and finds me missingAnd then, she'll probably come after Will.
I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair. When I took my hands away, they were stained red. I decided to try something that I don't normally do.
