"Nico, what's happening?" Will asked.

"Will, dude, I cant talk right now, but it would be great if you could call the police and tell them to go to 18285 Ambrosia Avenue. Please, it's a life or death situation," I pleaded.

I could hear Jason still trying to stall Melissa, our escape plan wasn't working hard enough.

"I'm on it," Gwen said determinedly.

"Oh. Thanks," I said. I hope that didn't sound too condescending, even though it was. I was surprised that I even had this much time to talk, the alcohol must've been affecting her.

"Look I gotta go, thanks so much for helping," I said, my heart racing. We were running out of options.

"You're welcome," he called as I ran off. "Call me later!"

My eyes grow wide. I try to suppress a grin.

--time laspe--Nico's house, 1 hour later

We had made it back to my house before Melissa, and when we got there, the police were waiting for us.

Battered and bloody, I walked to the first policeman.

"Hey kid. Would it be okay if we came inside? We want to know the full story. From you, and your friends."

"Yes, sir."

Before going inside, the officer told me that all that was left to do was wait, and that we should wait inside while they handle it.

I let everyone in and thanked them for helping me. They all started watching TV while I lay on the couch.

I pull my phone out of my pocket, remembering to text Will and thank him for what...Gwen did.

N: hey, thx fr helping me back there, man. Really appreciate it.

W: no prob. Are u ok? Gwen was worried too.

N: oh. Tell her i'm fine and thx for her help. Ttyl.

W: wait nico

N: .....um okay?

W: actually, just forget it. Ill ttyl.

N: okay..bye

W: bye

That was weird...I thought. Just forget it, you're hoping for too much.

I plugged in my headphones, and fell asleep.
