A Second Chance

visit with grandma

I text Dylan goodmorning, tell him I love him and that I'm leaving. He's still asleep tho, I go to the front door and yell for them to come on they run down stairs,and put their shoes on.when we get to the car they argue over the front seat so I make both of them sit in the back seat. Grandma only lives about 10 minutes away but we still have to stop at McDonald's. When I get to McDonald's parking lot I call grandma to see if she wants anything to eat, she says no and then I tell her Sarah and Timmy are coming with me to see her. She says she can't wait to see us. The last time I saw her was about 2 weeks ago but she hasn't seen Sarah or timmy in over a month.
We us to have a really close realationship with her but my dad Doesn't go over to see her that much anymore so nether do we plus I've been busy with work and school.
After I get the kids food and myself a coffee I drive to grandma's. As soon as the car stop in her drive way they jump out and run to grandma who's waiting at the front door she hugs them both. I get the food and carry it into the house I sit it in the kitchen table and then give grandma a hug.
"You guys need to eat before it gets cold" I say to Sarah and Timmy
They sit down and eat there food quickly so they can go play, grandma has a big swing set in her back yard. She's had it since I was young. After
The kids go out side to play I sit and talk to grandma.
"So are you feeling any better?" I asks
"Yea I'm feeling a little better, thank you so much for coming over to help me, I love when you visit"
"You know I'm happy to help you anytime, I love coming over just to see you. Sarah and Timmy wanted to see you to they missed you" I say
"I missed them to I wish your dad would bring them over more. He doesn't even call me that much anymore" she says
"Dad doesn't really talk to any of us anymore I don't know what's wrong with him"
"Have him and your mom been arguing?" She ask
"No I don't think so, they haven't been talking much, dad's been gone alot and mom's spent a lot of time by her self in her room. I don't know what's wrong,let's not talk about it" I ask
"Yea i'll just talk to him about it, so how's school been?" She ask
" I'm doing good, I'm almost done with all my community service hours. My grades are really good so other than it being boring it's good."
"That's good I'm so proud of you doing so good in school, what about work ? How's work?" She ask
"I mean works good I guess I get Fridays and Saturdays off but I have to work in Sundays now"
"Well that's good atleast you still have some free time, how's you and Dylan?"
" were really good he's coming over later, he told me to tell you he hopes you feel better"

"I will, so do you need help with anything around the house?" I ask
"I hate to ask you to help me clean but there's a few things I need help with"
" grandma I have no problem helping you"
"I really appreciate the help"
"So what do you need me to do?"
"I just need help cleaning those windows in the front room, the lights in the dinning room, and sweeping off the back patio"
"I can do that it shouldn't even take that long you can go sit with the kids while I do that if you want, I know you haven't seen them for a while"
" Alright thank you sweetie I really appreciate your help, your the only one that comes to help me"
"I love helping you, i know it's hard for you to clean to lights and Windows since your backs bad"
"Yea, thank you so much"
Sarah runs in the house and tells grandma to come outside with her.
Grandma go's outside and I go to the cabinet where grandma keeps all her cleaning supplies, I grab the windex, and a old rag.
I spray the windows with windex and wipe them down so that there all clean, after I'm done with the windows I go to clean the light that hangs over the dinning room table.i pull out a chair and stand on it to reach the light it's not very dirty I just have to clean the dust off it, it doesn't take long, I put the cleaning supplies away and go out side to ask grandma where her broom was so I could sweep off the back patio. She says it's leaned up against the house. I go get it and sweep off all the grass and other stuff. When I'm done i pull out my phone to cheak the time and to see if Dylan ever texted back. He did and it's almost 12 , Dylan says goodmorning, and says he loves me he ask if we're hang out later and if I wanted to go anywhere special.
I tell the kids we have to go soon I tell grandma I did the things she needed me to do and she thanks me for the billionth time I give her a hug and tell her it's no problem and to call me if she ever needs anything.
Sarah and Timmy give her a hug and they both race to the front seat of the car Sarah jumps in the front seat and locks the door when I get to the car she unlocks it and Timmy gets in the back. I tell her that wasn't nice even though it's kinda funny.
When we get home moms gone and dad's home, Timmy runs to the basement to see dad and I follow him dad asks him where we've been and he excitedly tells him we went to grandma's, dad ask how grandma's doing.
"She's doing better, I helped her clean up a little today"
" well that's nice of you, i should probably call her and go see her more"
"Yea she misses you"
He doesn't say anything back so I walk upstairs, Timmy stays and talks to him.
It's still early, I go fix my make up and hair so I don't look bad later when Dylan comes over not that he cares, he's says I look beautiful no matter what but I beg to differ. I text him back and tell him I'm home and he can come over when ever

I go to my room and listen to music for a few minutes then hear a horn honk, it's my mom's she just got back from the grocery store so I go help helped carry in grocery.
