I yawned as I walked into the small store and straight to the aisle full of video games. I looked through the glass and tried to find the video game my cousin wanted for his birthday. Finally, I saw it-- it was the last one-- and just as I was about to reach for it, someone else opened up the door and grabbed it. I stayed silent for a minute before the person handed the game to me. I looked up from their hand and to their face.

"You can have it. It's rare for me to see a girl playing a video game." He smiled at me and I found myself entranced by his stunning blue eyes. He was a boy around my age and he was wearing a navy blue pea-coat. Everything about him seemed... different. The way his eyes sparkled, the way he carried himself, and even the way he just... seemed. He radiated something that made my chest tighten and even though he wore a very great cologne, I could still smell a slightly sour scent that lingered in the air.

"Uh..." I shook my head. "It's actually for my cousins birthday. You keep it. I'll just go somewhere else." I shrugged and turned away.

"Here, take it. I was going to do nothing with it anyways. You need it for something important." The boy jogged to my side and placed the game in my hand.

"Um, if you wouldn't mind me asking, why are you wearing a coat? It's the ending of summer and it's still pretty hot out." I eyed his coat before he looked down at it himself.

"Good point. It belonged to a friend so I keep it by my side at all times. So, what's your name? I'm Luca." Luca held out his hand and I grabbed it. I felt a wave of electricity run throughout my body and I pulled my hand away. What was that about? My head pounded and I blinked a couple times to clear my blurry vision.

"Um, I'm Vanessa. Thanks for the game but I have to get going," I told myself to turn away but my body wouldn't comply. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. He was beautiful. His deep brown and golden hair was ruffled as if he had just gotten out of bed, which wouldn't surprise me since it was seven o'clock in the morning. He had a perfect straight smile and his eyes looked down at me with what seemed like curiosity mixed with wonder.

"You said you were leaving?" Luca chuckled.

"Oh, right. Um..." I continued to stare up at him.

"Um...?" Luca chuckled some more before I finally gathered up the nerve to look away.

"Bye. Again." I turned and began walking at a brisk pace to get as far away from him as I could. I hurried to the register and payed for the game with the money from my wallet. But, before I left, I made sure to glance behind me. I wouldn't mind catching another glimpse at that boy, Luca. Sadly, he wasn't there and so I just continued walking to my moms car waiting outside the store for me.

"You got it?" Mom pulled out and I nodded. "You seem a little dazed. Are you okay?"

"I'm just a little tired. Where are we going next?" I sat the game down beside me and didn't bother buckling my seatbelt.

"See what you started, Nessa?" Malcom spit something out of his mouth and I tried shoving him to the ground only to send him back an inch or two.

"Shut it, Doofus." I stuck my tongue out at him and walked up to Justin. "I'm going to head home; I'm not feeling too good." I was telling the truth. My stomach was in knots and everytime I saw even the slightest bit of light I winced. The dull pain at the front of my brain wasn't going to be leaving anytime soon.

"See you later, Nessa. Thanks for the present," Justin wrapped his arms around me and got cake all over me. I gasped as I wiped some of the cake out of my hair.
