"Golums! Attack! Seize the lightning tamers!"

Luca pulled me underneath a nearby tree and lifted me up so that I could grab onto one of the many branches. My mind was fogged, but I managed to climb up the tree with ease. When I finally reached a branch at least 10 or fifteen feet off the ground, I called down to Luca. "Luca! Help--"

"I'm already on it!" Luca looked up at me and then rushed over to where Jem was holding his arm on the ground. Luca said something to Jem but I couldn't hear from way up in the tree.

I heard a scream and instantly my eyes were searching for Orion. She was down near Professor Marda. Giant blobs of mud and mostly stone were forming from the earth beneath where I had just been dancing. King Xavier stood in the middle, his eyes closed in concentration for creating so many golums. Golums were simple creatures, the equivalent of neanderthals. They were stupid, but they had enough power to kill a couple people. One was lunging at Orion but Professor Marda managed to push her out of the way in time. None of them had weapons, and I was beginning to wonder if a weapon would even do them any good against something made of stone.

"Ness," I looked down and saw Jem climbing up the tree with a severly burnt arm. "We need to get you out of here. Now, your guards have the carriages ready. Come--"

"No, we need to do this. Our plan was to imprison Xavier, not run away like we can't defend ourselves," I began tearing at my dress and silently thanked the fact that Clari had in fact taken off a few layers without making it too noticable. Eventually I got sick of ripping my dress and just pulled my skirts up to grab the sword.

"Why do you have the sword with you?" Jem narrowed his eyes at me and stopped my hand from grabbing it. "Did you really think we were going to let you fight? Ness, we need to get out of here. The plan might have worked if maybe some guards had stayed and he wasn't conjuring up golums. Things are different."

"No. I'm not going to sit back and just watch him try to take Luca's father. Not when his wife still hasn't gotten to say goodbye to him. I won't let them take Luca's dad away from him. At the moment, he's all Luca's got. If you're going to try to stop me, I will shock you so hard you're unconcious," I began untying the dress and pulling it off of my body. I covered up my body with the fluffy skirts as I pulled out the light tank top out and pulled it over me. I had already worn pants underneath. The only problem was I couldn't fight wearing heels.

"Fine, but I'm going with you. There's no way you'll be able to fight in that," Jem tossed my heavy dress to the side and we both started to climb down from the tree. I was chaos once we reached the ground.

Luca was back to back with his father and while Luca was casting spells this way and that, Professor Marda was tossing lightning bolts through the centers of the golums. I had never seen him actually bend lightning before, so I watched for a few seconds with awe. Stevie was casting spells, Orion was setting fire to the golums, Melissa was actually using a chair as a weapon against one of the golums, and Jona was causing tree limbs to whip around and hit several golums at a time. I couldn't find Carter, though.

"One of them had to leave once a golum broke his arm. They're all fine. Come on-- Vanessa!"

I spun and my eyes widened at the sight of a huge golum made entirely of rock swinging an arm at me. I ducked and my sword flashed brilliantly as it cut through his arm as easy as a hot knife cutting through butter. The arm fell to the ground and the golum swung its other arm. This time, though, he aimed for Jem. Jem ducked and a large sword made of ice appeared in his hand. It wasn't an actual sword, just a very very sharp piece of ice. He jammed it into the head of the monster.

Flailling, the monster managed to hit both of us and send us flying through the air in opposite directions. As if it were nothing, the giant came crashing toward me. I had hit a tree and now I was crumpled on the ground trying to refocus my vision. Someone called my name. I looked up and the creature was only a yard or two away. Quick as a whip, a tree vine wrapped itself around me and swung me into the air. At the sight of how high I was thrown, I couldn't help but scream.
