In the beginning there was just Sparkles. This is set before Area 11 was a proper band.

Tom walked along the street, his guitar slung across his back. He walked to his usual spot and started playing his own songs.

After a few hours he had enough money to get some food and a drink. With Tom not having a job or place to live he'd take whatever he could get. He walked into his usual cafe and ordered a coffee and a chicken sandwich. He sat by his usual spot by the window and waited for his coffee and sandwich to be served. He hummed quietly and waited as the rain started to hit the window, until it was thudding against it with force.

The waitress dropped off his sandwich and coffee after about fifteen minutes.

"Anything else you need darling?" She asked him, her voice perky. She was in her late thirty's and her hair was tied up messily.

"No thank you. I don't really have the money." She nods and walks off, he finishes his sandwich and clutches his coffee. The waitress returns a few minutes later and hands him a few chocolates. Tom looks up at her in confusion. "I didn't order these."

"No darling they're for you. I've seen you sometimes, I know you have nowhere to go. Just take these, I'll deal with the bill." He smiled weakly.

"Thank you so much. I'll find some way to pay you. I promise." He took the chocolates and put them in his coat pocket. "Thank you seriously." She nodded and walked back behind the counter. Tom got up, it was still pouring down with rain. He headed to his normal spot at the train station.

He woke up to shouting. He looked up and saw a security guard telling him to move on. He didnt even argue and walked out, heading to his normal place where he plays. He rounded the corner and saw another artist in his spot. He frowned and walked over to him.

"Excuse me, this is my spot." The other artist looked at him and nodded, then carried on playing. "Hello?! This is my spot." The other artist ignored him. Tom frowned and dragged the artist into a small alcove.

"What the hell are you doing?! I was playing!"

"No that was my spot. You've seen me. What's your name?"

"Alex. Nice to meet you." He held out his hand.

"Tom, nice to meet you." He shook his hand.

"Right Tom, how about we play together?" Tom nodded slowly.

"Okay let's go." They both walked over to Tom's spot and started to lay together. Tom slowly teaching Alex some of his songs.
