Weeks later, I was best friends with Dan, and we were good friends with Chris and Pj. I thought nothing would ever go wrong.
"Come to my party Saturday night at 8:00 pm," A boy we barely knew handed me, Chris, Pj, and Dan fliers to a party.
"Wanna go?" Chris asks.
"Uh I don't know if-" I began but Pj cut me off.
"Hell yeah!" Pj high-fived Chris and they cracked up. They always pretended to be rowdy fraternity boys. "But I think we should go."
I shot Dan and uneasy look as Pj and Chris pass us to go to their shared dorm room.
"You don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with. I'm not gonna force you to go," Dan placed a hand on my back and traced his fingers along my ribs.
"Thank you, Dan," I stared into his chocolatey brown eyes. I could tell he wanted to go. I mean, it was our first college party that we'd been invited to! Why wouldn't he want to go? "But I think we should go. It'll be fun." I hope, I thought to myself.
Two days later was the party. Me and Dan were getting ready in Chris and Pj's dorm room.
"Don't do drugs of any kind, got it?" Pj was telling us all the things we shouldn't do.
"Okay mum," I said and everyone laughed. I was wearing one of my more colourful outfits, so I felt more outgoing. "But, no, I won't do drugs."
"Yeah me neither," Dan and Chris said at the same time.
"And no driving home," Pj kept on reciting the rules.
"Pj, we know everything we shouldn't do. I think we're good," I told him."It's 8:20, perfect time to go." Everyone followed me out of the room. We stepped outside into the chilly September air. It only took about seven minutes to get their, so walking home would be easy.
"Hey guys, come on in!" We were greeted by a girl in a crop top and mini skirt holding a beer at the door.
"Hey guys," Chris waved us away. "I'll just, uh, stay here with her." We left Chris while giggling.
We all got beers, and I handed one to Chris who was empty handed and I left him with, Candace, was it? Now they were bonding well... With their lips.
"Hey!" Dan called to me over the booming music. "Let's go over here!" Pj was already talking to a quite sober girl and seemed to be getting along with her.
"Now you guys find some nice and pretty girls to get along with!" Pj yelled to us when he found the girl he liked.
I walked away awkwardly and thinking to myself, Oh, right. I haven't told them I'm gay yet.
Dan whisked me away to a couch that no one was making out on, yet. People danced around us, and some girl found her way on top of me and was trying to desperately pull my lips to hers. I pushed her away and went to the kitchen and Dan followed.
"That was your chance to get a girl!" Dan pulled me back by the shoulder. "Oh no, that's where the druggies are."
"I don't want to get a girl!" I shouted. Luckily everything was too loud for anyone else to hear.
"Why?" Dan asked confused. "I mean I don't want to but-"
"Then why do you want to make me? I'm just not- not into girls," I told him. There we go. I basically just came out to him.
"Are you gay?"
"Yes. Yes, I'm gay." I walked away from him, knowing he wouldn't want to be friends with a homo.
"Where are you going?!" Dan grabbed my hand and pulled me back. I stumbled a bit, we were already a little tipsy.
"Why would you want to be friends with a homo?" I was close to tears. That's what my dad told me when he overheard my friend tell me he was gay. "Isn't it disgusting or something?" My dad said he didn't want to see my friend ever again and called him disgusting. To his face!
"What?!" Dan looked at me in disbelief. "Um, of course not!" A smile crept on to my tear-stained face. He wrapped me in a hug.
"WHOOOOOO!!" Chris broke our hug while running through us with a beer in each hand. "I'm g'ng to get some," He whisper-yelled. He was very drunk.
"Okay," I whispered back. "Just please don't drive."
"She d'sn't ev'n have 'er car," He slurred and ran out of the house pulling the girl with him.
"Oh boy," Dan sighed. We grabbed another beer each. I sipped mine slowly while Dan practically chugged his.
"Hey, let's sit over here," Dan seemed to forget that a girl tried to make out with me on that couch, but I went anyway.
Dan grabbed another beer. "Man, this," He pointed to the bottle he held. "This is good stuff."
We may have been allowed to drink, but that doesn't mean we did it responsibly. I got another drink, too. We talked in drunken voices on off topic things.
"Hey Phil," I looked at Dan. "I like you. A lot. But like, more than a friend. Ya know?"
"Cool," I leaned into him, we were still in our original position on the couch.
"Phil?" I lifted my head to the sound of Dan's voice. He pulled me into a deep kiss. We started to make out and dropped our bottles on the rug. I straddled him, and I guess Pj must've seen us, because he said he saw us kissing that night.
"Wanna go up there?" Dan pointed a lazy finger to the ceiling and I nodded. We stumbled up the steps and found a bedroom.
"I really like you, too," I told Dan before I started to undress myself. I couldn't remember the rest of the night.
