Alison:
"No one had heard of me" is what I kept repeating to myself.

No one had heard of me and no one was ever going to hear of me unless I finally land a big role and get to Los Angeles. It's been another day of failed auditions and I really don't think I have what it takes to face my husband tonight. At least I'm working until eleven so I should get home around midnight and if he's drank as much as yesterday then he should be asleep when I get home.

As I walk into the diner i work at I greet all of our regulars and go in the back to get changed out of my normal clothes and into my uniform for job number one. As I change I see the faded bruises on my back from where my husband, Eliot hit me four nights ago because I was five minutes late and he didn't believe me when I told him the bus was late. "How did I end up here?" I asked myself. "There was so much hope for me. I was popular, I was smart, I got early acceptance to Stanford for Christ sake. How did things go so bad so fast?" "I guess everything happens for a reason right? " I sighed as I put on my best fake smile (I've gotten really good at that) and go out to serve the customers.
