One month later...

The tighter she gripped the microphone and allowed the music to take over, the more she realized that she was close to ending the last show of her tour. It was bittersweet already; she would miss the adrenaline that pumped through her veins every time she stepped onstage, the various attractions she did have a chance to see, and most of all, she'd miss the freedom.

The freedom of the music.

The freedom of the audience.

Hell, the freedom of being away from him.

Although it's been a month since she last seen him, he's still been on her mind. And now that the tour is ending, she'll be seeing more of him.

And Ty.

The thought of him just brought a smile to her face. However, those damn braids had to go.

Before she knew it, the song had finished, and the fireworks were popping away. The moment brought tears to her eyes.

"IT'S OVER?!" She screamed to the crowd while continuously wiping at her face.

Damn, I feel alive.

An exhausting three-hour meet and greet party later, Kehlani was ready to head home. She slept the whole way back to the hotel and didn't want to wake up when they arrived.

"Miss Parrish," her driver said as he helped her out of the vehicle. "You have a Dre Dexter waiting for you."

Her eyes shot open. "It's almost midnight," she groaned. "What does he want?"

As soon as she stepped out of the car, she fell back down. Sleep was calling her name.

"What do you want, Dre? And what are you doing here?" She mumbled sleepily.

"I want you back, Keh."

Kehlani laughed. "What happened to that  baby mother you always sang about in your songs, Dre? You wanted her so bad then, right? Well, does she know you're still chasing after me?"

Those words left a bitter taste in her mouth, but she knew they were true. Of course she still loved Dre, but that was the last thing on her malfunctioning mind.

Once they reached her hotel room, she faced him—avoiding his eyes.

"You can't love me and the bitch you cheated on me with, Dre. Being with you was more than I bargained for."

Stop lying.

"Come on, Keh," he begged.

The way he looked and how sexy he sounded begging was not helping.

"Goodnight, Dre. Kiss Harley for me."

Seconds later, she slammed the door and jumped in bed, immediately falling asleep

Before Kehlani knew it, her human alarm beat on her door.

"'Lani!! Get up, girl," Harold, her bodyguard, yelled.

She groaned and pulled herself together. Literally.

"I'm up, Harold. I'm up."

As she went to start her day, last night's events invaded her thoughts. She was actually surprised she could remember what happened.

"Come on, Lil LayLow! We ain't got all day!" Harold yelled.

"Okay!"

She wondered what the rush— and Harold's problem—was. He's never called her by her nickname like that.

An hour later, they were on their way back to L.A. She placed her Beats headphones on her head and closed her eyes, eventually falling asleep.

Today is our five year anniversary and I haven't heard from Dre all day. He told me he had a surprise for me and I was really looking forward to it...until nine o'clock turned into ten...ten into eleven..and one blunt turned into two...two into two and a half....

He's starting to piss me the fuck off. I was high as fuck, but ain't no way in HELL I was gon' wait for this nigga.

Before I could realize what was happening, I put on some decent clothes, ran to my car, and burned rubber.

"He think he slick," I said to myself. He left the hotel information on the refrigerator.

With his dumb ass.

The more I drove, the more I wish I would've smoked the other half of that blunt. I realized I was pulling into Lexington, Kentucky.

Once I got to the hotel, I damn near ran to that entrance door. There was no receptionist in the lobby, so I went straight to his room.

Funny how the door was cracked; I could see him holding hands with...another woman?

"Brina, you know I love Harley, but I can't do this with you anymore. I want full custody of her."

"No, Dre. No. I know you still love me and want me back. You're just scared. Why? Is it that Kehlani bitch you're so infatuated with?"

Nobody calls Lani Tsunami a bitch and gets away with it.

I opened the door and both of them jumped off of the tattered couch they were sitting on.

"Who's the bitch now, heifer?" I said, outraged. "Dre, what the fuck..."

The rest of my rant left me when a beautiful girl walked into the room and went straight to Dre.

"Daddy, who's this?" She asked sweetly.

When Dre said nothing to the little girl, I broke down. However, I wasn't gonna be one of those annoying how-could-you-do-this-to-me bitches I see in movies. I left the room, defeated.

Echos of Dre calling after me just went in one ear and out of the other as I ran out of the building.

Hours later, I was back in Louisville, finishing my third blunt. Just when I was about to go to sleep, a sudden shimmer caught my eye. I turned over to my nightstand and seen a gorgeous engagement ring with a small card attatched to it.

I told you we were gonna make it out of here together. All I need is your answer.

For the second time that night, I broke down. Because now, there will be no answer.

"Kehlani! Wake up!" Harold said.

She stirred from her sleep to wipe her eyes, but she felt more than just matter. It was...tears.

When she finally stepped off of the plane, she was bombarded with a group of paparazzi and...

"Ty B?"
