Cousin, Cousin, Cousin. That word kept running in my mind as I went down the stairs. I held the railing of the stairs tightly I think I might have left nail marks on it. What if I walk in at the wrong moment and they’re doing something R-rated. Gosh, I don’t even have an idea what to say to Carter or to Mindy. Then why go down at all? Honestly, I don’t know. I guess when Kyle mentioned she was his cousin, curiosity got hold of my idiotic mind.
To think about it, they don’t look alike. Not that most cousin would but just a hint of physical features that they’re actually related. Because, come on, Kyle’s sweet and a brunette. Mindy’s all blonde and bitchy and shit. But I have nothing against blonde’s it’s just her I don’t really like. I take slow steps down, not wanting to draw attention and hesitated.
“Are you okay?” a deep voice said behind me.
No, of course I’m not. I’m dressed like shit and my breath stinks, I get to meet Mindy who’s your cousin and I have a fucking headache.
I shrugged. “Yeah I’m fine.”
I continued walking down the stairway and not glancing back at Kyle who is obviously walking down with me but with clothes. Why is this stairway taking so long and I meaning his abode isn’t even that big. Okay, so maybe it is but seriously it’s just too long.
Kyle grabbed hold of my wrist at the end of the stairs and smiled at me for no apparent reason. I held back making him jolt back in surprise. “I don’t think I want to go in there.” I said, looking at him with a queasy expression.
“Why?” he asked, knitting his brows. “Is there something wrong?”
“No, no its just I –I don’t really think going in there with Mindy in the same room would be good. I –I don’t know, just maybe?” I stuttered, fumbling the tips of my hair. The idea being with her it there isn’t a very good omen. She was being in the same place as I am too! If we cant get along in school, how more at the outside world.
Kyle had that incredulous look on his face and rubbed his nape, not letting of my wrist. Just as I thought he didn’t, he did and went around me and placed both his hands on my shoulder, pushing forward. “Come on, if I’m sweet like what you stated before, what more is she?”

The moment I set foot in Kyle’s living room, Mindy and Carter sprang apart exposing her neon pink bra and Carter’s unbuckled pants. It looks like they were about to hit homerun in a span of 20 minutes. And for a moment I thought Kyle persuaded me she was sweet. Yeah, sweetly kinky. When her icy blue eyes spotted me she yelled Kyle. Literally.
“Why is that bitch here, Riley?!” She pointed at me with her finger like I’m some piece of her thongs that’s broken. “Why is she here?!”
Kyle was actually dumbstruck at the sudden emotion Mindy gave off. When he regained his equanimity, he studied Mindy’s manifestation with a grim expression. “And why are you half naked in my apartment?” He stepped out behind me a darted towards the pink fabric on the flat screen TV and threw to her direction. “I won’t have naked relative present before a guest, so put that on or get out.”
She caught the apparel and wore it as she gave a glare doing so. I, in return, smirked at her condition, being ordered by her cousin to respect me as a guest. Ha, Mindy respecting me is an understatement.
Carter on the other hand just sat at the sofa and stared at the ground playing a crumbled piece of paper with his foot. Seems to me, he finds this very awkward but he brought it to himself. It’s not my fault when all hell breaks loose between Mindy and I.
