"Are you sure?" Ron asked for the umpteenth time.

"Yes we're sure!" I said, my voice shrilly and agitated. I couldn't handle the fact Hagrid had opened the Chamber of Secrets, but everything fitted well. So well it irritated me. Hagrid loves monsters. He probably just let the monster out for a stretch or something...

"Shall we visit him?" Hermione suggested.

"Yeah and what are we going to say - Hello Hagrid, how are you?" Ron said. "Been having fun setting something loose in the castle? Bloody hell, just leave it until there's another attack." We all agreed quietly.

Since the Quidditch Match was coming up, Wood insisted we switch our three practice sessions should be switched to practice sessions everyday after dinner, which made me work exceptionally hard to keep up with homework and I barely had time to relax.

"I think I'll keep my broom in your room," I gasped, exhausted from practice. Harry and I dragged ourselves upstairs to his room. We found Neville blocking the doorway, looking horrified and anxious. "You okay Neville?"

"I-  I don't know what happened," he spluttered, moving aside. I gaped at the room; it looked like a tornado had ripped through. Clothes and books were everywhere. Harry and Ron, who had just arrived ("Bloody hell," he swore), searched and nothing seemed to be missing. After meeting Hermione and telling her what happened, Harry gave us bad news.

"Riddle's diary is gone." We gasped.

"Only a Gryffindor knows the password!" Hermione said.

"Which means whoever stole it, was a Gryffindor," I said quietly.

"Rip... tear... kill... Rip... Tear... Kill..." hissed the voice. I screamed and Harry yelled out in shock.

"Did you hear it?" He gasped. My eyes were wide as I looked left and right down the corridor, trying to catch someone else lurking about but it was empty.

"No!" Ron said, looking earnest. Hermione looked as though something was dawning on her so I gave her an enquiring look.

"How could I have not seen it before?" she said, her eyes shining. I stared. "I've got to go to the library!"

"Mind telling us something someday?" Ron yelled after her. He turned back to us. "Anyway, you guys better get changed, it's quarter to eleven, Wood will kill you if you're late." We ran to the Quidditch Pitch, where everyone was having a warm up flight around. I mounted my broom, rose a few feet off the ground and fell off my broom, not injured.

"THE MATCH HAS BEEN CANCELLED!" Professor McGonagall announced through her megaphone, which was what had made me fall down. I grabbed my broom as I saw Wood looking devastated. "EVERYONE BACK TO YOUR COMMON ROOMS AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN! YOUR HEAD OF HOUSES WILL GIVE YOU FURTHER INFORMATION."  I rubbed my sore ears as she came up to me and Harry. "Potter, Potter, Weasley, follow me please." We slowly and grudgingly followed her. "This might be a bit of a shock," she said, making her way through the doors of the hospital wing. My eyes fell upon the bed nearest the door and I gasped, my hands immediately flying to my face.

 "Hermione..." I whispered.

"There was a double attack," Professor McGonagall informed us quietly. I dropped my gaze to the other victim who lay on the bed next to her. "They were in the library, with this mirror next to them. Do either of you know what happened?" We all shook our heads. "I need to escort you to the Common room, there are new rules to be laid."
