At breakfast the next day, we were still so surprised that we couldn't have asked her.

"She was three toilets away, we could've just asked her," Ron groaned, barely touching his cereal. I nodded, still too shaken up from the previous night to talk.

"You do realise this'll be hard right?" Harry asked us. "Her bathroom is the scene of the first attack, plus it had been hard enough to go looking for the spiders. Honestly, count ourselves lucky if we even manage to sneak into the girls' bathroom after escaping the teachers."

"I have good news," Professor McGonagall announced from the table, and it was already pretty quiet so she was heard clearly. Everyone cheered and shouted out things. I caught the words "Heir of Slytherin", "Dumbledore" and "Quidditch". There were more suggestions but I couldn't make out the words. "I'm sure, they are all good things but unfortunately none has happened. Professor Sprout has told me that the Mandrakes are ready for cutting and those who have been petrified will be rivived." All the tables except Slytherin errupted with more cheering.

"We might as well just forget talking to Myrtle then!" Ron said happily. "Hermione will have all the answers right? But she'll freak when she finds out we have three-days to exams." Ginny came and sat down in between Harry and Ron (opposite me). Her face was so pale, it looked like her hair was more fiery than before. She was biting her lip and twisting her hands up tight, rocking back and forth in her chair.

"Hey Ginny, what's wrong?" I asked from across the table. She didn't answer but glanced up at me for a second. Her eyes were blood-shot.

"I- I have to tell you something," she murmured.

"Well spit it out," Ron said impatiently. "You can tell us." She was trying hard, I could tell but she couldn't talk.

"Is it about the Chamber of Secrets?" Harry prompted. "Someone acting odd?"Before she could even attempt to answer again, Percy Weasley came up to us.

"Well if you're done Ginny, I'll take it," he said. "I've just came off patrol and I am starving.2 Hurriedly, she jumped off her chair and ran away.

"She was going to tell us something important, Percy!" Ron snapped at him. His brother choked on his pumpkin juice and gave Ron a suspicious, anxious look.

"What was she telling you?" He asked nervously, dabbing at his stained robes.

"I just asked her about the Chamber of Secrets or if someone's acting odd-"

"That's, er nothing to do with the Chamber of Secrets. If you must know Ginny walked in on me doing- it's none of your business really. I just thought she would keep her word." Ron smirked at his red-faced brother.

Our chance for escaping a teacher came when Lockhart was escorting us to History of Magic. Harry, Ron and I got cut off from the rest of the class as some Hufflepuffs came across the corridor.

"Professor, you must have so many things to prepare for your next class," I said, seizing our chance. "Why don't you just leave us here? We only have one more corridor left."

"You know what, I think I will," he beamed, walking off in the other direction. We headed quickly to Moaning Myrtle's bathroom.

"Potter, Potter, Weasley!" came a shrill voice from behind us. Professor McGonagall was striding towards us, looking extremely disapproving.  "What are you doing?" There was silence.

"We were- going to see Hermione," I invented quickly. Her gaze softened slightly.

"Because we haven't seen her for ages," Harry continued. "And we miss her. We wanted to um, sneak into the hospital wing to tell her it'll be alright and er all of that."
