I woke up to the girls playing music loudly and shaking me to get me to wake up. I grunt and try to go back to sleep, but Violet pulls me off the bed.
"Come on wake up already it's 8:30 let's do something, we need to find a perfect place to set up the tent and gather wood for the bonfire," Skylar tells me.
"Sky, you do realize we are in the forest right? So there's enough wood." I say.
"Yeah, but I still want to explore a bit, anyway get ready Mr. Lambert made breakfast and had to leave," Sky says before taking Violet and leaving.
When they left I got dressed in a tank top and jeans; then I remembered Skylar in a blue and black dress. I'm a bit underdressed...wait we are going exploring in a forest, she's a bit overdressed, I thought to myself. Once I finished getting ready the girls were done eating. They looked at me and pulled me outside and handed me a sandwich. I was eating quietly while we were looking around. We walked to the lake, and Skylar asked if we could set up here, we agreed, and Violet pulled out the tent, which I just realized she was carrying and started to set up. I asked her if she needed some help, but she told me to get tons of sticks, so we went back to work. I turn to Skylar, but she was already gone. I started to walk around and collect some sticks; then there was a bunch of sticks laying right next to a broken down tree and also found Skylar's black flats. I look up to see Skylar sitting peacefully on the smooth tree.
"Okay, um Sky are you okay? It's not like you to be doing this." I say a little shocked.
"Dude you have no idea how peaceful this is. I have never been without a care in the world, thanks for taking me here." Skylar says smiling.
I smile too and pull my phone out and take a picture of her.
"Girly, that's why I brought you guys here to let off all the stress, anyway, I'm going to collect some more sticks, you can sit there for a while more just don't get lost." I said before picking up all the sticks and leaving.
I kept on gathering sticks until I couldn't carry anymore, so I walked back to the lake and found Adam with Violet. I dropped the sticks by the setup tent.
"Um, I'm going to get some more sticks," I say before turning away.
"Nick, Adam is gonna go with you okay? I'm going to get stuff to put in here okay?" Violet asked.
"Yeah, sure," I say bluntly.
I started walking leaving him behind, but he caught up with me.
" Where's Skylar?" Adam asked.
"In a tree," I said flatly.
"Okay, I understand you're still upset that I scared you, but you don't have to lie I don't want her to get lost in here," Adam says.
I stop walking and turn to him. "Yeah I am still upset, but I wouldn't lie, last time I saw her, she was sitting on a tree and thinking," I say before starting to walk off again.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Adam says.
I kept walking until I saw a bow and arrow. I looked at it for a minute; then Adam spoke up.
"You want to try it out?" Adam asked.
"You know how to use it?" I replied with a question.
" Yeah, when I was younger I would usually spend time with Mr. Lambert, so I know how to use many things, but that," he says pointing to the bow and arrow, " is mine, I got it two years ago."
Adam goes over to pick it up and hands it to me. I look at it in confusion, he laughs at me, then starts to adjust my position to shoot. Then lets his hands drop and takes a step back.
"Wow, that's so cool, can you take a picture?" I ask.
He nodded, and I handed him my phone.
We both laugh, and I told him that we should get back to work. Adam collected logs while I gather the sticks. When we couldn't carry anymore, we walked back; no one was by the tent.
"Looks like they're still out," Adam says.
"Yeah, hey are you going to be close by?" I ask.
"Yeah, I don't want any creeps walking by here or animals," Adam says.
"Creeps?" I ask.
"Um, there were some incidents a couple of years ago, people are still allowed to come and camp," Adam responds.
Oh great, I thought, the sun started to set so I look up. It's so peaceful here. I felt a pair of eyes on me then looked to see Adam staring at me.
I looked at him for a second, the heard two girls talking. Out came Skylar and Violet carrying food. Skylar, of course, has marshmallows. We all set up the sticks and logs in a pile to make a medium-sized bonfire. I took out my lighter out of my pocket and lit the sticks. They all gave me a questioning look, but they didn't ask questions.
"At least, you didn't forget the lighter; then I would be mad." Skylar said laughing, remembering the time when her friend forgot the lighter at the bonfire party.
We all sat down and started to cook the food. When we were finally eating, we began to talk about what we are going to do tomorrow. Then I remembered I had to call my mom; I told them that I'm going back to the house to get service, but Adam said he has to come with me for safety. I agreed, and he told the girls to scream if anyone tried to hurt them. When we got to the house, I ran into the bedroom and then the bathroom. I called my mom and told her what we did and what we were doing, we talked for 3 minutes then told her I had to go. After I had hung up I walked outside where Adam was waiting, he asked if I was ready to go and I told him I was ready, so we left. When we got there, the girls were talking about books. Violet said she needed to call her mom too, so Adam took her back to the house. I spoke to Skylar for a couple of minutes then told her we should get to bed. We crawled into the tent, and there were three pillows, blankets, and sleeping beds. I asked her where Adam is going to sleep she shrugged she was also shivering. I told her we could share the bigger sleeping bag and stuff it with the blanket and share a pillow. She nodded and waited until I was done setting it all up. Then we both went inside it and fell asleep.
