Halfway through the school year.

"So what you are saying is that Rose likes me?" James asked

"Yep, she asked me to tell you. Obviously, you don't like her, right?" I reply

"No, you know who I like."

"No, I don't. Anyway, Can you be the one to break it to her. I don't want to seem like a bad friend."

"Fine, I'll tell her in math. I'm doing this for you so you owe me one."

I laugh, "Really. The only person that I owe something to is-"

"Me. Hey guys. What ya talking about?" Shane interrupts me.

"C'mon Shane, go away!" James tells him. Shane waves goodbye and goes to his next class. Then the bell rings. " I'll talk to you at recess, k? Then we can chat about this girl you like!"

He shakes his head and waves and I head to my next class. Geography. Shiz, I forgot my homework. I run to the room I'm supposed to be in and no one is there.

Room change

I look at the sheet and I'm in S630. Jesus, that's down two levels. Seriously! I sprint down the fire stairs, grab my homework form my locker and reach the room just in time.

"Morning Mrs John. How was your weekend?" I ask, out of puff.

"It was good, Tara. Thanks for asking. Now class, you can sit. Please get out your homework form yesterday."

We all get out our books and nearly chuck them at our teacher. "T, how du make it on time. I was texting you and you weren't picking up." Gabriella sits next to me, wondering how I'm so fast.

"It was just like........"

"Like magic. Yeah yeah, that's what they always say."

I really laugh. Really loud. Mrs John turns around form the whiteboard and looks at me. "Miss Harding, do you really want to go there again?" I shake my head. "Then don't laugh. This is not a clown school, if you want to go there, I suggest going across the road."
This is what she always does. I try to distract myself by texting.

Hey, just got in trouble. So stupid!

I feel for you T! I can't believe that stupid geo teacher.😡😡

I know right. This is sooooooo boring. James, how long until recess?

Another 34 minutes!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh. I'll see you when I'm dead. Gtg.

Cya, bie!😱🙈🌮

The bell finally rings and I almost jump from my seat. We all rush out of the classroom and head for the lockers. I throw my stuff in and get my food. I sit down on the bench just before James. We have this competition...... It's complicated.

"So I was thinking and-"

"You were actually thinking! That's a one in a lifetime thing, James! Well done!" I tease

He hits me on the arm. "Yeah I was. Anyway, and I have a plan." James says. From the way he is looking at me, it isn't a very good plan. Not for me anyway.
"What sort of plan is it?" I ask.

"Well, if you tell me who you like, and I think I know who, then I tell you this girl that I like. Deal?"

I take in the things that he just said. It is a good deal, but I will tell my biggest secret ever. I make a screwed up face and James laughs.

"Really," James says, "it's not that bad!"

"It kinda is. Anyway........ Fine. I'll do it."

I hear James hissing a big 'YESSSSSSSSSS' I chuckle and I see my friends. I gesture them over. We all sit on the benches.

"Tara, ladies, I have to be run to a music lesson. Bye!"

"Bye!" We all say in unison.

"So tell us who he likes. Did he say?" Mel asks. Her real name is Melissa, but we all call her Mel.

"He told me, but for a price. I had to tell him who I liked."

They all gasp. They want to know who he likes now. And they also want to know who I like. I've never told them before.

"He likes," I hush my voice,"Amelia. He says that she's pretty and cute and smart. Pretty much allege things that men like in girls. No personality things. Just looks and smarts. Anyway. Soz Rose."

Rose nods and starts to play games on her iPad. Genevieve opens her mouth to speak, closes it and reopens and says,

"I know what we could do. He is friends with Jace, right? And Tara , frankly, Amelia is your friend. How about you two hook each other up?"

My eyes widen. This could be my chance. The chance to finally have a boyfriend. To be with the one I desire.

"It sounds like a great plan," I say. "Genevieve, you and I will tell James the plan at lunch today. Let's get planing before then, though. So we can have a well thought our plan to tell James!"
