I burst out of the front doors of my school, tears streaming down my face. My friends chase after me and suggest we go for a birthday lunch. They convince me, so we go to a cafe Mel's Dad owns.

"James and I had a fight, and it didn't end well. The deal is off. The hook up is gone. My chances, scattered like the stars in the sky." I say, starting to sob once more.

"You're gonna be okay, T. I'm sure you can find out another way to get jace's attention, right?" Gabby insists. I nod and eat my lunch. Smoked Salmon salad. The best.

...

The bell on the front door rings, signifying that the girls have left. They are leaving but I wanted to stay in the cafe for a bit more. Just to think things through. I suddenly hear the bell ring again and I look around, suspecting Gabby or Mel to drag me back to school but instead I see Jace, walking up to my table.

Jace waits before making eye contact and then sits.

"Are you okay? I heard about the fight with James you had. Is your relationship failing?" He asks.
I sit, flabbergasted that he thought that James and I were a couple. He looks at me, "What? What have I done?"

"Nothing. It's just, I'm not in a relationship with James, we just have a strong friendship. That's all. Does everyone thing that we are a couple?" I say.

"Maybe. I dunno. It depends on what the people think I guess." Jace says.

"We better head back to school. Otherwise we'll be late for English." I say, changing the topic. Jace nods and head back.

...
We get back to school and I'm feeling a lot better already. I am smiling when I walk into the building, laughing at something Jace said. Maybe I don't need James to make Jace like me. I don't need that stupid plan anymore.

I grab the books out of my locker when we reach them. Jace is in my house, so we have the same locker area. He is a couple of blocks away from me. Once I have my stuff I wonder over to Jace's locker. He immediately slams it shut and blushes bright red.
"What's inside, Jace?" I ask

"Nothing, lets go, we'll be late." He answers, changing the subject, and taking my hand.

I loosen his grip on my hand and let go of him

"Don't be like that, show me." I plead and he opens his locker.

My heart skips a beat and my jaw drops. His locker. It's pictures. A lot of pictures. And love hearts. Of someone. Someone I know dearly.
