The alarm goes off, waking you from a sleep you dont want to be woken from. The dream slips away as you open your eyes. You remember nothing of it. Exept the leopard. Its green eyes staring straight at you.

You use all your strength to drag yourself from the warmth of your bed and into the bathroom. You splash cold water over your face, savouring the feeling of it running down your face. You hear footsteps behind you and remember: Its your 15th birthday.

"Hey honey, happy birthday!" You turn around seeing your mam standing behind you, holding out a wrapped up box. The wrapping paper is green. Your favourite colour. Its a big box. You smile and take it. "Thanks mam!" She laughs, "You havent even opened it yet."

You run to your room and place it on your bed. You wait for your mam to follow and when she arrives at the door you rip into the wrapping paper. Its a cardboard box. You give her a suspicious look. You had asked for a pet, a cat mostly, for the past 10 years but you never got one. You hear a scratching noice coming from the box.

You look over to your mam again and she nods encouragingly, with a bright smile youve never seen since her wedding day. You pull the lid off the box. The shock hits you in a wave, you feel as if youve been punched in the stomach and winded. Sitting looking up at you, is a cat. A leopard print cat.

You run and hug your mam tightly. You always wanted a cat. And leopards are your favourite animal. You cant thank her enough.
