You hide behind the bush outside your house, Jacob beside you. "You know loads of people saw you, right?" You shrugs your shoulders. About 10 people are surrounding your house and about 13 birds. Your front door is hanging off it hinges and you can see multiple items sprawled on the floor.

A tall man dressed in black steps out the front door and jumps, shifting in midair, and lets out a screech. Jacob gasps and pushes on your shoulders for you to duck further, "Orion!" he says in a whisper. Multiple eagles and other birds fly off and you keeps your gaze on Orion. He shifts back to his human self and grabs the closest man to him by the neck, "Where is she!? Where is the girl!?" You can see the terror on the mans face as he shakes his head violently. Orion lets go, shifts, and flies off, followed by the rest.

You and Jacob wait 10 minutes to make sure the coast is clear before exposing yourselves. You run into the house and head for the stairs, pulling at the secret door with all your might. You grab the note which is there, as your mam said, and glance up the stairs. Tears well up in your eyes as you take in the scene of your mam and dads bodies. Your dad half way up the stairs, lying lifelessly, and your mam hunched at the top of the stairs against the wall.

You dash out the back door and sit on the steps, tears rushing out of you. Jacob sits next to you and wraps an arm around you. You sit in silence for a few minutes until he speaks. "What about parabatai?" You look at him confused, "What?" He shakes his head, "Parabatai is where two people go through a ceremony which attaches themselves to each other and promise to look after each other. But it doesnt matter."

You hear a yell come from in your house. Unhuman-like. Jacob bolts into the house. Millions of thoughts run through your head. You jump over your garden fence and run. Run for your life. You get to the forest and shift, still running.

Images of Jacob flash through your memory and a pain forms in your chest, a lump in your throat. You've ran for what seems like 15 miles and you flop down to the ground, rolling on your back and pullong out your phone. You open the messages to Jacob and type:

IM SORRY BUT I CANT COPE, DONT TRY TO FIND ME. LOOK AFTER NALA IF YOU CAN FIND HER. IM SORRY. I LOVE YOU X

You hit the send button and throw your phone in a bush. You hear it tumble and you peer through the bush. A growl echos from infront of you and a grey body whips around you. Something hits your leg. You turn and pull it out. Tranquilizer? Your eyes slide shut and everything goes black.
