You lifted your head from Marshall's chest, gazing up into his brilliant eyes. He offered you a small smile.
"Wanna get outta here?" He muttered softly in your ear.
The offer sounded good, so you nodded. He grasped your finger with his in a matter of seconds and pulled you away from the homecoming dance. He took you back to his car and opened the door for you. You got inside and automatically turned the radio on. He got in and began to drive.
All the music was crap, so you reached over his lap and grasped the pill of CDs in clear folders and cd packets. You stayed in that position until you found one you liked. Marshall gently rested one hand on the small of your back, the other still on the steering wheel.
In the end you chose a Jay-Z tape and pushed it into the cd holder. You smiled as the beat came on and bounced your head.
Marshall chuckled and pulled up at an old Detroit park. You'd been to the park before, but not since you were young. You got out of the car and sat on the swing. You didn't really care much about your dress; it was only going to be worn once so you may aswell have gotten your use of it.
Marshall sat by you on the next swing and passed you a clear bottle of liquid. You look at him questioningly.
"Hey, would I give you something that could kill you?" He smiled.
You shook your head and tried the red liquid. It was sweet and fizzy, you recognized the taste automatically. Strawberry Cider.
You passed it back, smiling,"Thanks."
He chuckled and sipped the drink,"Glad you like it."
You smiled and rocked gently on the swing, staring at the Detroit sky,"Why me?" You asked.
"Huh? What're you on 'bout?" He replied.
"Why would you wanna go on a date with me?" You repeated, looking away from the sky and into his eyes.
"Because the first day of school, when you came in with your big ass glasses and your baggy clothes, I thought that you were just a normal girl. But then I saw you at the park afew months later, being shoved around by this asshole and I decided that it wasn't right. I was about to march over when you bet the shit outta them pussies." He looked at you. "I knew you didn't need help, but I still wanted to be there for you."
You blushed.
"And then you stopped wearing your glasses and I got a good view of your (e/c) eyes, and I was hooked."
"Oh," you raised your eyebrow playfully,"You didn't like me with glasses."
"No," he chuckled. "I could tell you were beautiful no matter what. It was just something blocking me from your eyes." He stood up and walked infront of you. Putting the bottle on the floor, he took your hands and pulled you to your feet.
His eyes fell to your lips as he bit his own,"And I've been watching you talk all night."
"You'll have to shut me up," you blushed.
"I don't need to be told twice." He leant down and pressed his lips against yours. He drew you close as you kissed back and wrapped your arms around his neck.
The breeze was cold, but being in his arms made it bearable.
The truth was, you didn't have admirers. You had an admirer. You didn't need anyone else then someone who'd had his eyes on you since day one.
(And that is the end of Homecoming!)
