Marley Rose shifted in her pen as tribute names were about to be chosen. She really did not want to be chosen. She had already lost her sister and best friend to the Games,and she didn't want to be picked.
"Nora Plonte!" An older girl, thin and wiry, jogged up onstage. "I'm Nora, and I'm nineteen," she said quietly.
"Alecia Kambler!" A small girl screamed and cried as her name was called. She had a breakdown on the spot. The young girl was still in her pen when two Peacekeepers were forced to drag the screaming girl onstage.
"How old are you, my dear?" Lennorette asked Alecia, who was shaking. The girl still didn't respond. One of the peacekeepers whispered in Lenorette's ear. "Ten year old Alecia Kambler, everyone!" Lennorette exclaimed.
"Ona Kaiser!" A young girl skipped up on stage, her blonde locks flying all about. "I'm Ona, and I'm thirteen."
"Jadelyn Greene!" A slightly older girl scooted up to the stage, her short brown hair bouncing and her emerald eyes shining. "I'm Jadelyn, and I'm fifteen."
One more to go.
"Marley Rose!" She felt light-headed. Marley weakly walked up to the stage. "I'm Marley, and I am fourteen," she said quietly, barely above a whisper.
"Well, here are the..." was all Marley heard before the floor came up and hit her in the face.
