The Holy Spirit is God and is co-equal to both the God the Father and Jesus Christ. He is a part of the trinity and can be worshiped, yet He is a gentle, quiet and invisible figure who does not draw much attention to himself.
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.- John 5 : 7
God has revealed himself in three ways or offices. The Father who is the all powerful, ever loving God who is the architect and creator of everything. He revealed himself to several people throughout the Old Testament, as the "God over us". Then came Jesus Christ (The Word) at the start of the New Testament. He was God in flesh who came to partake in our sufferings and bear our sins. Jesus, was initially revealed as "God with us" or Immanuel. Then once Jesus completed his work on the cross, we were blessed with the New Testament. The single greatest promise of the New Testament is the possibility of "God in us".
And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you- Luke 24 : 29
The Holy Spirit is the fulfillment of this promise made by Jesus. The Spirit of God himself joined with our Spirit, Jesus himself living inside us. He is a like a person who has a will, intellect and emotions. He is also a part of the trinity or Godhead.LIFE APPLICATION
