I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.- John 14:18
This is the promise that Jesus made to his disciples, He knew that once he left, there will be difficult times that his people will have to face. He knew that life was not going to be easy and there will be people, circumstances and events that can break them.
The Lord's people were going to need comfort when satan attacks them from all sides and tries to crush their faith.
Jesus fulfilled this promise on the day of the Pentecost by pouring out his own Spirit on those who loved him.
The Holy Spirit is a master comforter, he will literally carry and strengthen you during difficult times.
A situation or an event that would normally break you down will no longer affect you as much, once you receive the Holy Spirit. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things ...- John 14:26
Life will still have its ups and downs, the downs will no longer be as low as they used to be. The issues can be anything like a financial setback or the loss of your job or break up in a relationship or issues in your marriage. You will realize that the problem does not affect you much and in spite of the turmoil you are going through you strangely feel a sense of calm inside you.
REAL LIFE INSPIRATION
Once during a prayer meeting, all the people gathered together to bless a prayer intercessor. This group took turns to collectively pray for and bless individual members, this was the format of the session.
This prayer intercessor was in her late twenties, who was filled with the Holy Spirit and loved God. As this group was praying an elderly man suddenly got a message from the Holy Spirit asking him to approach this girl as an earthly father and say sorry to her.
The man was surprised, he was not sure if it was God, he asked God once again if it was actually him speaking. God told him to go and start speaking and as he speaks he will get the rest of the message.
This elderly gentleman then slowly moved forward, knelt down beside the girl and with tears in his eyes apologised to the young woman. He told her that he was sorry for abandoning her and that he loved her. He asked her to forgive him and told her that he was very pleased with the way she was growing up and developing into a beautiful woman. He also let her know that he is pleased that her feet are firmly planted in the Gospel.
The message that the elderly man spoke was given to him by the Holy Spirit. There was a smile on the girl's face and there were tears flowing down her eyes. The emotions that were flowing in those few minutes cannot be described with words.
Later when they were discussing what happened the young girl told him that she was abandoned three times as a girl by different men who were her "fathers".
The whole group was in tears, they were touched and were thankful for the wonderful way in which God moved in her life. The message had greatly comforted her and strengthened the young girl.LIFE APPLICATION
