                    Different

                   Chapter 1

                    Goodbye

They say out of body experiences hold the most memorable moments of your life. I hope, so desperately, this wasn’t true. Or at least not true for me. The last few weeks have been one big out of body experience. More of a blur with flashes of color and little sparks of memories, but mainly just one long blur. I’m coming out of it though, slowly, but coming none the less.

I lay on the empty floor of my now empty room as movers take the last of my things, the last of my good memories, away. Strangely enough this is the most I’ve felt like me in weeks. Maybe it’s because my room, my old room now I guess, matches exactly how I’m feeling. Empty, cold and all alone. I hear a gentle knock on my door and I know whoever is knocking is nervous to be interacting with me. Everyone thinks I’m this ticking time bomb now. Without a reply from me, my older sister walks in. Under normal circumstances I might have been annoyed at her entrance, but this is her room too, well used to be.

“Al, come on we really have to go now,” my sister, Nicole, said. I look up at her and see her eyes full of pity. It’s always there now. Not only in her eyes, but everyone’s. Everyone looks at me with pity.

“Where are the kids?” I ask referring to my two younger siblings as Nicole pulls me off the floor. Nicole’s face reads shocked, but it’s quickly replaced with a look of satisfaction. I know she takes the fact I actually replied to her as a positive sign. “In the car, the moving van will follow me,” she replies leading the way to the front of the house.

“I’m driving my car,” I state without hesitation. I see a slight smile slip across her features. More “positive signs”. “I wouldn’t expect anything else, the keys are on the key rack,” her smile falters as the last words leave her mouth. My features turn into a sad smile as I look over to the wall where the key rack hangs. “Couldn’t get the old thing down huh?” I ask turning back to see her sake her head no and look down at her shoes. “Good,” I state her head flying up to look at me. It only felt right that something physical is getting left behind in relativity to what I'm leaving.

A/N So here's the intro to my first story on here! S/o to my best friends for practically forcing me to put it up! I promise it'll get more exciting soon! Just please stick with it!
