Chapter 11

G.N. I. (Girls Night In)

The effect of the simplest words have on a teenage girl is unparalleled. Within minutes the girls and I were back into our comfortable clothes and sports bras. We snuggle up onto one decent size sofa as Melonie walks in with arms full of food. We sat around eating while binge watching every series we could find on Netflix. All of us are too high strung to actually sit and watch silently, so we end up being the commentaries. Two chick flicks, a bad horror movie, and 3 seasons of Teen Wolf later we were sitting on a pallet on Melonie's living room floor. "What about Truth or Dare?" Amber asks. "With a group of girls," Melonie says laughing a little. "Isn't the whole point of Truth or Dare to make out with random guys?" "Well I don't see y'all coming up with any great ideas!" Amber says defending herself. "Isn't this the kind of time when most teenagers throw house parties and get wasted?" Melonie asks. "Ooh that sounds fun!" Amber exclaims. "We totally could and nobody would even know, we're in the middle of nowhere out here," Cassie added. "I think y'all are forgetting the fact it's two in the morning and it takes over an hour to drive out here," I laugh at the girls. I take the flying goldfish at my face as Cassie's response to my comment. After the mini food fight ended the question of how to entertain ourselves once again arose. "We could play Never Have I Ever," I suggest. "Mel, does your mom have any alcohol?" Amber asks. Before Melonie can even reply Cassie interrupts, "No! No alcohol. End of story. Alcohol kills your brain cells or something, and I want all of y'alls pretty faces to get into a great college." "Whatever mom," Mel teases. "That's Mama Bear to you," Cassie plays along pointing at Melonie. "Calm down Mama Bear we can play with food or something," I say nudging into Cassie. After we decide to play with M&M's Melonie gets 4 bags from candy stash and gives us each one. "Wait so do we eat one if you have done it or if you haven't done it?" Amber questions. "If you have done whatever she says then eat an M&M," I explain. After rounds and rounds of playing I learned a lot about the girls. We've all been kissed before. After a brief argument about if a guy shoving his tongue down my throat counted as a French kiss I knew we had all been French kissed as well. Melonie and I had absolutely zero experience with any bases after that though. Obviously Cassie and Amber being seniors with pretty serious boyfriends they had gone farther. Melonie banned anyone from asking how far they had actually gone with their boyfriends past or present for fear of losing her last meal. The other girls already known almost everything about each other's pasts, so questions on mine were limited. The questions they did ask I gave very vague open-ended answers and quickly changed the topic. I'm not sure how obvious my walls were to them, but I felt like I did a good job staying up beat and not being a downer. I thought the hard questions to answer would be about my family life, but boy was I wrong. Once one girl asked about the subject, all three of them boarded the 'Let's Make Allison as Uncomfortable as Possible' train. What was this subject that had me so affected you ask? The one and only Mason King. "Have you kissed him?" "Nope"

"Do y'all go out?"

"No"

"Have y'all gone a date?"

"Negative"

"Has he told you he likes you yet?"

"That's not going to happen, so no."

Then for a minute the interrogation seemed to be at halt. I let out an exasperated breathe, and didn't notice the exchange the girls seemed to have between themselves silently. Finally Cassie speaks up, "Do you want him to tell you that he likes you?" I weigh the question in my mind. I never really had thought about Mason liking me. I had been too focused on myself. How he made me feel. What he said to me. How it would affect me. The entire time I had known Mason I had questions spiraling around my head, but I still had no answer. I'm not saying I sat around meticulously annotating every single encounter I had with the man, just unanswered questions that had accumulated over time. Finally I replied, "I don't really do relationships." Melonie slowly nodded as if she actually understood my feelings on the topic. Amber and Cassie just look at each other, then me, then back to each other with a small smile. "What?" I question. "Oh, nothing it's just..." Amber started, but paused. "What!?" I yell as I laugh at them. "Mason says the same thing," Cassie finished. "Well it looks we're all on the same page now huh?" I say popping an M&M in my mouth. Then another. Then another. How I'm not severely obese yet I do not understand. "Actually we're not really," Melonie says. "What else is there to possibly know?" I question and roll onto my back rubbing my tired face. "Why did it take you and Mason so long to get from the track to the restaurant, everyone else was there like five minutes before you and Mason?" she questioned. Something about her tone threw me off. It didn't sound curious, but knowing. I narrowed my eyes at her. "You, my friend, know something don't you?" "That depends if there's something to know now doesn't it," she said smiling. I groan in annoyance. "FINE, but tell a sole and your dead," I try to state seriously, but the girls are too giddy to notice. "After the races, Mason drove me to my car and pretty much right as we pulled up 'I Want Crazy' by Hunter Hayes came on. I'm obsessed with that song, so I get out and dance around in the lights from his headlights, ya know?" They all nod with smiles growing. "An eventually he got out and I pulled him out with me." A chorus of "awww's" broke out. "But he just stood there!" I laughed. "Eventually though he started dancing with me," I added blushing lightly, as I remember that night. "Wait hold the phone," Cassie says putting her hand up. "Dance like Dirty Dancing, Grease, or Miley Cyrus?" "Oh just like Miley I twerked all over him, because that's the classy girl I am," I note sarcastically. "Come on don't hate on Miley now!" Amber exclaims. I laugh and shake my head as I turn back to Cassie. "Like Dirty Dancing I guess, but not as intense. It was more of a sway then actual dancing." I couldn't help, but smile throughout telling them this. Whether I do or do not like Mason, which I don't, it was just a really memorable moment. I felt like I was finally living a normal teenager life with sappy moments. As I smile and reminisce on the recent memory, the girls exchanged these weird looks. "Don't give her that look! No. Mason and I are friends. Actually we're barely acquaintances. And neither of us wants to date, so there. I mean I practically walked in on his morning after with some girl," I said. They had already heard the story. What can I say? I was really proud of my comeback. "Are you trying to convince us or yourself Al?" Amber states smiling. "What ever happened after te whole dancing thing?" Cassie asked. "We went to the diner, and havent really talked a out it since," I shrug. They're giving me such a hard time about Mason tonight. "Can we drop this? Please?" I beg overdramatically. "Fine...For now!" Cassie winks. "What time is it?" I ask changed the subject. "Time for you to get a watch!" Cassie exclaimed. "Time for you to get a new joke," I retorted. "It's almost four," Melonie yawns. We all silently agree it's time to sleep, or read fan fiction on our phones until we pass out. Melonie grabs more pillows and blankets and turns off all the lights on her way back into the living room. Cassie makes a cocoon out of the blankets with herself in the middle. Amber slept oddly on the love seat, and Melonie and I shared the large sofa. Not too long after you saw Cassie's light from her phone go black, a sign she fell asleep. I look over and see Amber looking like a pretzel hanging almost fully off the love seat upside down. As I'm about to set her back up her body slides onto the floor and I shrug it off, I'm too comfy anyway. Then a mumbled voice came from across the couch. "I'm glad we're friends Al," Melonie whispers before rolling over and continuing her slumber. I turn and get comfortable as I whisper, "Me too Mel, me too."

A/N Sorry for the shorter update I was planning on this chapter to go into the next morning, but it took me a while to actually finish this and now it's getting kind of late. Don't forget to follow the pintrest and or the polyvore for Different. Any ideas on what's to come for Alli and Mason?
