I stared at the coffin, my feet stood rooted to the ground.
For a moment, the air in the Throne Room seems to give a deadly chill, sending icy shivers up and down my spine. The atmosphere whispered an eerie, solemn growl, giving me the thought of being forced to sit through a whole funeral which is most likely going to end with my death.
Caspar had stalked up towards the throne area, taking long strides to where the coffin laid peacefully with the unnatural grace of vampires. His once cheerful aura had faded and now replaced by a grim solitude. Eyes which were once luminous with a charismatic spark were now shrouded by a far distant memory, a tragic past too painful to share. His brows narrowed and his lips were a thin, firm line, his clothing like a shadow in the night as his dark coat swayed like a hazy blur.
Standing a distant away from the coffin, I watched as Caspar ran a hand along the polished frame of the wooden coffin elegantly decorated in the royal colors of gold and silver. With a tender expression, I could almost imagine an invisible tear rolling down his cheek.
I sighed, looking down at my left hand where my ring finger adorned a silver ring. A circular red gemstone glimmered against the shiny metal, its brilliance burning deep into my chestnut-coloured eyes. I bit my lips. If it weren't for that idiotic dare on Halloween, I wouldn't have even gotten into this mess. Let it be known that I listened to an annoying voice in my head, wore a mysterious stubborn ring on my finger, have some vampire-killer chasing me till the brinks of daylight, a teacher who coincidentally became a vampire, freaking 10-year-old oracle and now, a coffin in my face.
Wow.
Could my life ever get even more exciting?
Bored, I looked around me, my hyper-active eyes scanning my surroundings for something that might capture my attention. However, the Throne Room proved room proved to be a, sadly, boring place. There was literally nothing! Well, except for that cool balcony tucked at a corner but still, these vampires are blind to not notice what they have! Ten of my house could easily fit into onto of these mats in here and I swear that if I were to rule this place, the room would've been less boring by now. I could totally rock the house and invite everyone (except a certain bitch) in. That way, I can not only become the most popular girl in school, but also the girl who has the "swag".
Cool, right? I know. Smirk smirk.
However, I still like that balcony over there. Taking a peek at Caspar ti make sure he wasn't looking, I crept slowly, ninja-style, towards the entrance of the balcony. Pouncing into a roll and a kick in mid-air, and almost getting myself tangled with the red velvety drapes at the side, I slipped into the balcony, saving myself from the shame and embarrassment.
The balcony was beautiful. It was designed in the theme of gold and black, offering a fantastic view of the dark, mysterious forest as well as the swollen full moon which hung overhead.
As I took the first step into the cool midnight air, I felt a icy presence behind me. Wincing, I cringed and turned around to face a adorably, pissed off Aries. The thin air between us hummed angrily as her cold gaze seem to shoot daggers at me. For a moment, we had a mini staring contest till she blinked and broke the ice.
Shaking her head, Aries tried to retain a serious face. "Caspar is looking for you," she muttered nervously, her pale eyes darting everywhere.
"Okay. So what does he want? Why am I here? Did you guys team up and kidnap me?" I burst through a series of question until the oracle cut me off.
"You will know soon enough," she smiled, her blue orbs glowing with a knowledge of a world beyond I will never comprehend. "We shou - "
Aries was a pathetic sight. She had reached out for my hand but as creeped out as I was, I held my hand up and Aries, being a clumsy little girl, fell over. "Oomphf!" She sat up, the overly large neckline draping over one shoulder, exposing her flawless pale skin. Her hood fell back and her dark hair flowed out. And unlike Caspar with his unearthly grace, Aries is certainly the odd one of the vampire community with her tornado hairstyle.
