Felicity de La Cruz.
So, that’s her name, huh? Well, Jane, Felicity – not much of a difference anyway. Felicity’s lips pulled into a crooked smile and immediately, jaws dropped. She glided through the class with unearthly grace as every male stared at her. Felicity meanders around the rows of desks till she found a seat next to me. Looking around me, I could see that every boy wanted to be with her while every girl wanted to be her.
She smirked and for a moment, time froze and everything was black and white. “We meet again, Amelia Hathaway,” she grinned as she settled comfortably in her chair.
No shit.
“What do you want from me now?” I whispered, pulling out my books and notes.
“Oh nothing,” Felicity replied. “At least not yet.”
Class started and once in a while, I would take a brave glance at Felicity. She would stare at the blackboard quietly, jotting down notes to what Mr Tots had to say. Studying her this close made me realized that her eyes were two blue orbs filled with emptiness, a void clouded with nothingness. Felicity didn’t bother me, instead choosing to observe the words written on the board. But I could tell she was growing impatient and maybe a tad bored because she gave a loud gruff before storming out of the class with loud, heavy footsteps. Everyone stared after her, but did not gave a budge to stop her. I didn’t see Felicity in any of my classes throughout the day and in a flash, school was over.
Normally, Val and I would walk home together, but for some reason, she had gone home without waiting for me. As I gave a glimpse to Val’s disappearing figure down the road, I glanced up to the sky where grey clouds had taken over. With a silent prayer, I discreetly hoped that it wouldn’t rain. I didn’t want the rain to destroy a perfect pair of sneakers.
“Mum! I’m home,” I called out, closing the door behind me. It’s great to be finally home, I inhaled deeply. I looked around and was met by an empty household. Suspicion building up in the pits of my stomach, I yelled out, “Anybody home?”
“Hey, sis,” Deirdre Hathaway appeared out of her room. Her chestnut-coloured hair was as messy as usual and her eyes were giving that gleaming green glow. She was wearing an achingly familiar shirt paired off with jeans and sneakers.
I squinted at her shirt and she blushed, covering her chest immediately. Poking her forehead, I narrowed my eyes. “Is that my shirt?”
“Maybe,” Dee grinned and slammed her door shut in front of my face. I inhaled deeply and counted silently in my head. Dee was my fourteen-year-old sister and was the laugh in the family; the child who would be the first to open her mouth in the midst of awkward situations. However, ever since she got that paint set for her twelfth birthday, my wardrobe had been getting smaller by the day.
“Oh and by the way, some guy called Kishon was looking for you!” she called out and my eyes widen. “He’s in your room!”
There wasn’t a need for hesitations, as I was at my door in a flash. I wrenched my door open and almost felt like crying. Kishon Baltimore, the crush of my high school life, was in my room.
Kishon was sitting comfortably on my bed as he read a pink book. “And so, dear Diary, I would give anything to have Ki – “ he read out and immediately, I snatched it from his grasp. With a left brow twitching, I didn’t know whether to kiss him or to beat the living daylights out of him for invading my personal possession.
He blinked and looked up at me. With a blank expression, he greeted out, “Hey.”
Kishon looked exactly the same from when I last seen him. And that included the hunting look in his green eyes. “Kishon!” I exclaimed, pouncing forward to hug him, but he side-stepped and I fell forward. I got up immediately. I was elated to see him. After what had happened after the deal with that demon prince, Keane, I had thought that he was lying. But he had in fact kept to his word. “What are you doing here, Ki?” I smiled widely.
